Nope. This is very limited. Can't even be a BT speaker. Can't use as a speaker from Mac. Apple TV can't use it.

I'm pretty certain standard AirPlay *is* supported, therefore should be able to stream from iPhone/iPad/iMac/MacBook, as well as use it as a speaker for Apple TV

This is basically apple music on a speaker with a bit of siri thrown in...tied to one icloud acct so screw the rest of the household.
Sorry? You can AirPlay from any Mac.

Yea it seems way too expensive. The similar Google and Amazon devices are significantly cheaper. I am not sure what separates the Apple device as I have not seen the details, I am hoping at a minimum the audio quality is significantly better.

Nevermind Echo and Google, the hardware on HomePod seems to not even be in Sonos League. 7 tweeters, not 2, 22cm subwoofer and its ability to equalise and tailor its audio by itself. as an audiophile im quite excited to see what this can do

Don’t think you even read about it. It will have AirPlay 2 support. So it will do all those things and more.

If you have a Mac then you’d already know it’ll work with it. Mac’s work Witt AirPlay and Bluetooth devices thank you.

Think that said coming soon. And there's been no real depth of details on airplay 2.

I ordered a white one. Don't know if I will keep it. It will all depend on the audio quality. Mainly going to use it my home office.

i mean it isn't limited, if your android then yes.. but then why buy it? its going to use airplay so anybody with an iPhone , iPad or mac is going to be able to connect to it over wifi ? wouldn't call that limited its just like Sonos Airplay.

Oh i think the Airplay 2 is only for stereo mode support , which is launching late, i still imagine HomePod will work out of the box with just normal Airplay to connect to devices otherwise how we going to set it up and access it through homekit

Ordered Space Grey in App on iPhone confirmation email received 13:32 for delivery 09/02/18
Hope I can play the radio on it or I am going to have to sit it next to my Sonos!

I stand corrected. It's BT streaming it won't do. Still, not sure if it'll be as seamless as the airpods. It's just standard airplay that other systems have. Airplay 2 is a pipe dream for now. I'd really prefer if Apple had their apple tv in mind for these.

You can’t play music from an iOS device using Bluetooth? What is your source for that? According to Apple’s specs it has Bluetooth 5.0.

i was just about to comment that i actually don't know if that is true, apple have not said no or yes. i was simply pointing out if thats the case it still is not limited because Airplay is universal to all Apple Products so they will all connect to it

if I wouldn't have bought the iPhone X earlier this month I probably would have jumped at this. spending another $350 I just don't know.

Got mine. Went with white, although I'm worried about dust making it look like crap after a few months. Maybe I should do more dusting. :)

No, stop shedding skin, hair, etc. You're aging it wrong. Suspend the natural decay of cells. Seal up external entry into your home. Never invite any other aging human over. Wear Nasa or Intel chip production-like clothing, or CDC hazmat suits at all times. Problem solved. ;)

I’m almost 100% positive that you can use it as a speaker for your Mac. It can be used as a regular Bluetooth speaker.

What does this thing do that warrants a purchase that say an Echo doesn't do? I have no interest in my text messages being read out loud - much faster to just check my phone or computer. What else does this thing do that warrants spending that kinda money?
