I have noticed minor issues with my mini. The odd time the music will crackle and skip.

I have seven HomePods...five original (two stereo pairs and a mono) and two minis as monos. All working great with 14.6. Superb sound and use all everyday.

I have 2 OG HomePods in my bedroom connected to the new Apple TV 4K. They are both far beyond their warranty, as I bought one a few months after it came out in the US and then I bought the other one here in Canada, as soon as it was available.

they have been acting very strange. Including:

- volume indicators staying on. Only way I can get them to disappear is to airplay music to the stereo pair homepods and the living room HomePod mini and then uncheck the stereo pair and then the volume indicators disappear. I have stopped airplaying music for the time being, as I have been using the homepods predominately as the main speakers for the Apple TV and the volume indicators turn off successfully after shutting the Apple TV and the TV itself off.

- a week ago I had this strange issue where the volume would fluctuate on my homepods. I’ve seen a delay before in changing the volume, but this occurs without me touching the volume at all. The speakers go from sounding great to sounding almost as if I’ve summoned Siri while listening to music. The music or even whatever I’m using the Apple TV for, gets quiet and sounding very flat.

- Airplaying music or asking Siri to play music on the homepods resulted in only one speaker playing music, even though they were stereo paired and showing as so in the Home app.

I haven’t had these issues since I stopped airplaying and asking Siri to play music. I also completely reset the homepods and then reconnected them to the Apple TV and that seems to have solved any issues I had with the Apple TV-HomePod combo. Now the speakers are working flawlessly with the Apple TV, but I’m almost scared to do anything else other than use them with the Apple TV.

Burned out diode? That’s some serious firmware problem to self-destruct a hardware component! We need to know an indication of the root cause to prevent it happening. Wondering if I should just unplug my HomePod until we have a fix?

So should we be unplugging our HomePods until they say something or release an update? I've noticed they have been AWFUL for HomeKit automations lately. None are connected to an Apple TV, but this has me spooked now.

My OG Homepods are very dear to me so I’m playing it safe until I hear more

My HomePods weren't usable due to bizarre delay/synch issues after the 14.5 update(?), but the 14.6 update fixed everything. Have a pair matched with my ATV 4k. HomePod really seems to be at the bottom of the Apple tree. They gave up before they even launched the device. I love mine when they work.

I've also had weird issues and have reset my HomePods several times in the past month. I'm also paranoid about changing anything at this point. I've got all the software updates turned off. It takes so long to reset everything. I often think how much easier things were with hard wired simple speakers but enjoy controlling things via voice.

I have one stereo pair connected to Apple TV, after 14.6 the volume buttons stay on even after turning off the TV and also the e newer of the two developed a audible crack noise every 40-60 minutes when all turned off. They both also run warmer. It’s really weird!! I had it replaced under warranty for a new unit. I wonder what actual damage the software caused and how it’s going to affect the lifespan of the units. It would suck it the homepods were failing few years down the road when obsolete!!!! That smells like a class action lawsuit!

My stereo-paired HomePods were suddenly out of sync yesterday, which has never happened before. Unplugging them resolved the issue, for now, but I wonder if it’s related to this.

One of the HomePods frequently makes a «popping sound» whilst being in standby, as well. It has been doing that for months now.

Has Apple ever had a more error-ridden product?

Best song ever, from Shake on Aqua Teen Hunger Force:

Alright, Alright
Ha,
I Wrote this next one when I broke up with my girlfriend, cause I slept with her friend and then I dumped the both of them
And I think everyone can relate to the blues, like they had after I dropped them like two hot rocks,

Nude Love
Moves over me
Like a storm
Since you were born,
Nude Love
There something in your eye,
And I re-A-Lize,
In the sky!,

NUDE LOVE

Wait, hang on I got trouble with the G.,
Krankin-Smoking, here we go,

Tapes available out in the parking lot,
10 dollars for tapes
15 for CD
But drink ya coffee
And then see me, out by my hatch-a-back for copies!,
Nu-oooooooo-ude Love.
Yo … I’m still waiting on the truck load of discounted HomePods. ;)
