My stereo-paired HomePods were suddenly out of sync yesterday, which has never happened before. Unplugging them resolved the issue, for now, but I wonder if it’s related to this.

One of the HomePods frequently makes a «popping sound» whilst being in standby, as well. It has been doing that for months now.

Has Apple ever had a more error-ridden product?
One of my 2 homepods had a popping sound too for weeks when iddle (sometimes 3 or 4 per hour, super annoying), Apple told me it is a hardware problem, but when i told them I live in The Netherlandas they told me, I can ONLY exchange it if i go to Germany, as it is not sold here.

I ended getting the money back via the online store where i bought it, and order it from Apple Store Spain, sending it to my parents home and grabbing it in August, way back on my suitcase. Crazy.

So now I have only 1 at home, i disconnected it, because if it breaks because of 14.6, i would have the same story, again!.

I am an owner of two HomePods, so imagine how I feel. When I first paired them, months ago, things worked fine. Then there were some patches when, because my Powerbeats or iPads or AirPods Pro got some update, so I could listen to bipolar sound, things were a little touchy for a while. But the Homepods got cured, and then it became possible to name two speakers your default sound output. The spatial sound was wonderful for a few weeks. It worked with the iOS 14 beta, but then I put in the iOS 15 beta, and it was great at first, but things got tangled. Next day, no sound through the HomePods. I investigated, and found out that a name I gave my old Apple TV still existed, and tvOS 15 wanted to cling on to that icon, which is how you connect with an Apple TV right now. But this old file doesn't have any external speakers at all. I didn't have the HomePods. At least, it could be that for others. It's as annoying as hell, and maybe it's just that Apple is waiting to update my HomePod software, and why am I impatient? How to fix it, Apple? You need to give us a graphical, 3D view of our networks. We need a visible interface, you know? Like a spinning space station with your stuff on it. What's this? Oh, that digital VCR I had that... And then you need a way to delete stuff you no longer have. Anybody know how to delete an Apple TV from 2016 I don't have, so it won't gum up my sound? I'm listening to the TV Speaker, like an animal.

That is a [modern, digital] home audio system!
Or several audio setups in different rooms. The theoretically proper number of speakers for Dolby ATMOS is what, 27 speakers? That's the very best, but not necessary at all. You get it with two speakers, as long as you have the ATMOS firmware in your speaker, you get a large space with different sounds coming from many places. Paired Home Pods are a very good way to get a nice sound image in your room. True, I'm now looking to go a 7.2 or some such thing, and then put about 6 speakers right, left and center, a subwoofer, and a couple of up-firing speakers pointed up at the ceiling. About two grand, I guess. Two HomePods gave me very acceptable sound for the last month.

Mine literally JUST bricked too. HomePod on OS15.
This is crazy. Gonna go to the Apple Store and discuss this with the store managers.
I only have this HomePod and no AppleTV. So that is most likely not related.

I had the same issue as you when we sold our old Apple TV... when I looked in Hubs in Home app it still showed the old devices. You can remove it by going into iCloud settings (top of the list when you open the Settings app) There is a list of all the devices linked to your Apple ID... click your old Apple TV and click "Remove from account".

I really wish you could unlink the device in the Home app hub settings page directly. Also wish you could select the primary hub. Maybe iOS 16 will have that.

Apple is really good about taking care of these things. Give them time to sort out the problem and they will definitely take care of you. I had them repair an out of warranty MacBook Pro with a free motherboard a couple of years ago. This was after telling me it was going to cost me $500+. I was really nice to them and they found a way to get it covered for me.
That’s because they got sued for that lol not being nice I got a brand new laptop fir it

My stereo paired HomePods that I got in April & May are both on 14.6 and paired to Apple TV 4K 2021, I've noticed they get quite warm even when the TV isn't on. I haven't had any major problems except sometimes its a problem to AirPlay from my iPhone. Although I get major static sounds when using my Raspberry Pi 4 with them via ARC, but all my other devices are fine. This issue is spoken about here:

I'll be disconnecting mine tonight until they release an update to fix the issues.

For weeks now whenever I say Hey Siri Play ... Everywhere, she says there's a problem. I try 2 or three times and when it eventually works, some home pods don't play. So I tell her to stop everywhere, and do it again. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. So I go to the HomePods that ignores the command and do it from there, then they all start playing...14.6 on HP is very buggy.
