since its pop access, that means once you fetch for it from your iphone, its gone from the account right?

You know, since I added it yesterday, haven't checked the actual account, will do that now....all the messages are still in my inbox, even though I deleted them via the touch. Is this what should be happening with this type of e-mail account via the touch?

In the Mail Apps setting you can set up Hotmail to delete the server's copy of the mail once you've deleted it off your iPod/iPhone.

Hotmail seems a little slow still, but if you set that setting to delete the server copy, it will eventually remove the copy from your inbox on the Hotmail website.

That's what I have setup and it works great!
No more logging into hotmail.com!!

Im able to receive mail but what's the sending server?

If you set up the Hotmail account like shown, it will automatically configure your account to smtp.live.com. but again, you should never have to enter that manually.

Thanks Art!

I try to avoid anything that says Advanced in the settings, lol.

But it is done and works.

Another thing I thought about that will definitely work for everyone.
on hotmail.com you can go into your setting and set up your email to automatically forward to another email.

Simply forward your Hotmail email to the email that is setup on your iPod touch/iPhone and you will have your Hotmail emails sent to your iPod/iPhone.

Since I have MobileMe, that's what I decided to do. I also told Hotmail to delete the original mail from the hotmail server after forwarding the email to MobileMe. So technically, my Hotmail is managed under MobileMe now too!

it worked for me i think the key for me was not to press yes for not useing ssl or something like that?!?
but i do know that the pop service is only available in some country's
tanks for the help

I just switched to Gmail about a month ago. I was tired of people not receiving my emails until 12 hours after I sent them and I was tired of not being able to access my email easily through any mobile device. If they want to drop the ball and not access services for free that almost every other free email service offers then they will start to lose customers. Gmail works great and I've never once regretted the switch

I second this. It's absolutely ridiculous. I'm a transient student, and unfortunately, one of my colleges uses a live.com based email.. and it's absolutely infuriating. I can't stand live.com, hotmail, or any of the other ones. They make you pay for a service that should be free. That's B.S.

yeah

Well i too clicked other and somehow as well without paying a thing :D
usually you have to pay like $20 a month but some people seem to be able to get it for free without paying a thing. Awesome. I'm from Australia and it is perfect.
