Thanks for the update.. I was just headed out the door to head that way..Saved me some gas which is a good thing these day's..
I imagine anyone who wants an iPad at this point should really consider going to best buy and putting down the deposit and have them call you when they receive shipments.
I went to the galleria location cause I figure that best buy would receive more ipad stock than the best buy off of 99 and west park tollway.

That's what I want! Too bad it's so damn far away.We need more iPads inside the loop! I tried calling UH computer store but nobody answered. I am guessing the chances aren't too high that they have one left.
They are open m-f 9-5. I asked the manager if they had any. Said I have a friend who wants to buy it. He's gonna let me know if they do. If so I'll let you know and you can go down and get it.
That's BS, man ... they should say one way or the other.

How's the line now? Ramping up or are people getting discouraged after they said there were none available?
I think I'm giving up on the daily chase for iPad 2. I placed an order online and it has an ETA 4 weeks out, so I'll just wait for it. Too much hassle to run up and down to the various Apple stores. If I just happen to stumble upon one, I'll get it, but can't keep running to the stores and calling and being put on hold for 30 minutes or so.
I wish they'd offer the inventory tracker website like they did for iPhone 3GS. That was really useful for customers.

just called apple store and bestbuy at willowbrook, none today, don't know when they're getting more. Tried calling apple store at memorial, kept getting "8 more people in front of you message" so I just gave up. On a side note, apple online store says all ipad 2's will now take 4-5 weeks to ship, up from 3-4 weeks yesterday
I agree. It's also a shame they didn't offer pre-orders through the web -- that would have cut down on this type of ridiculous hunting to a degree. Oh well.
FYI a woman in line said memorial apple had 6 and there were "like 100 people in line."

Called Apple Memorial this morning around 8am and they said they had none. So either the person I spoke to on the phone was lying, that lady in line doesn't have a clue or they received last minute shipment in. All in all. I give up on this and am fed up with this iPad 2 launch.
I went to memorial city this morning at 8:30. The rep said they had 50 in but gave tickets to everyone already. Rushed over to Galleria, they had none which is surprising. The guy said maybe they'll open early again, maybe not Just more games with Apple.

I really wish they would put up a real-time inventory checker on their website like they did with the iPhone 3G. So people can check online for availability and then drive to the store to pick one up. Instead of calling the stores over and over everyday asking the same thing. I'm sure that would annoy a lot of people who work there. This makes things a lot more frustrating for both the buyer and the employers who work there.
C'mon Apple. This launch could've been much better had you implemented a better system. Which you are completely capable of.
The way things are is just a mess and makes it extremely difficult for customers to get their hands on one, not to mention the extra effort we need on our part to find one and only to be let down. With the price of gas increasing Apple should made things a bit more easier for the customers wanting an iPad.

Justed wanted to thank everyone for keeping me informed of stock status. I preferred not to wait for hours to receive so I had been checking these posts to see if/when there would be white wifi Ipad2 in stock without a wait.
Finally was able to get a 64GB one from Target central after checking the links posted in the target thread which listed "limited availablity" around 11:00 this morning.

Got one at Willowbrook Apple Store
My wife got in line (was number 4) outside the Willowbrook Mall Apple Store this morning around 8:30. Around 9 AM, an Apple Store employee told those waiting in line that they didn't know whether they would receive a delivery today or not. Apparently, they did receive a shipment just before 11 AM, and she was able to purchase a black 64 GB 3G Verizon version for me (they didn't get any AT&T versions in that shipment).
She wasn't sure how many the store received in the shipment.
