I am not baffled. As I mentioned earlier this is the MAGA playbook. Identify hot button cultural issues and get people spun up and focused on those to the exclusion of what is really important and what is really going on. I can't count the times that a MAGA coworker would join us at lunch and just be going off about some supposed silly politically correct overreach somewhere... simply because MAGA media relentlessly and continuously pump that out to them as propaganda.

Maybe ask him, what he saw happening in Ukraine on February 24 2022? The rest of the world saw Russian tanks/ military going into Ukraine.
Edit: he probably knows and means the “challenging attitude” of Ukraine (desire to become part of NATO and hoping for more cooperation with western countries)?

Ohh ok, as if US hasn’t been taking advantage of other nations too, such as allowing Apple to become so reliant on China in the first place rather than letting Apple invest in infrastructure in the US over decades so that we at least have any semblance of hope of domestic production. But nope. Good luck trying to coerce other countries to give up their advantages just to “gain access to US market”, which btw, doesn’t have as many rich customers as you’d thought.
And the very same timeline where US used to be able to manufacture all sorts of things, even, surprise, semiconductor products, onshore, and in huge scale. Wonder where those jobs went after 1990.
