I've been reviewing the Quest 3, but still don't get it. Does it already offer the same immersive experience that the Vision Pro offers, with "screens" floating in space? How well does that work? How do the Macs broadcast their screens?

Just watched a couple of CNET reviews of the Quest Pro and the Quest 3, and now I get it. But are the Mac screens always that "curved" in the virtual space? That would be super annoying. And the interface appeared blurry.

During the Keynote, I could swear there was a virtual keyboard in one of the views.
There was. However, without tactile feedback, that can't work very well. Even if they line it up with a flat surface like a table in front of you, it will be like typing on an iPad screen at best. There's a reason why we still use physical keyboards for actual work.

Latency becomes the question. They have Final Cut pictured above so possibly they have some magic worked out. My Quest Pro already allows 3 Macbook monitors with much less robust hardware so I am sure Apple will have a multi monitor soluition for this as well. With M2 and R1 all current apps should be possible native. That will be outstanding! I would order them for our whole team right now if they would let me.
Yeah, I am curious if you can run the headset directly from the thunderbolt 4 port on the laptop. Then the second question, does the charging port of the headset double as an input/output device? I really hope so - though the eventual goal will be no ports in the AR glasses, for this "Pro" V1 product a port for transferring data would be real nice...

I can live with the virtual 4K monitor wireless limitation, if that's an issue.

My current MBP is hooked up to two 4K monitors from a single Thunderbolt cable (to a hub). Along with the laptop display, I have a lot of pixels to look at.

I would love the ability to hardwire the headset to the MBP and allow for 2-3 virtual monitors that, in theory, aren't an airplay sort of screen sharing but actually just using it as a video source (think PiP). Right? And it can power the headset with USB-C PD.

100%...typing on a tabletop is going to kill your fingers...and typing in the air will kill your arms. Definitely not something you'd want to write a novel using.

Connecting is as simple as looking at a compatible Mac while wearing the Apple Vision headset.
If there are multiple compatible Macs, how will it identify which is the one you are looking at?

Eventually I would hope future headsets would allow for multiple, maybe infinite virtual screens for your Mac

It might sound like a dystopian nightmare, but I’m looking forward to being able to surround myself with screens so I’m never more than a glance away from what I need

I believe I read somewhere that it also runs macOS apps. Anyone find more info on if/what macOS apps are natively supported? Update: nevermind..

This is gonna be the most sold-out thing ever. Probably a year long waitlist.

I'm anti-VR and even I'm thinking about getting it, if it works with the Mac like this. It's not enough for me to already be working in bed with a laptop under work-from-home - I also want to be able to work while just lying back half asleep.

I'll pay top dollar for anything that'll let me be just a little bit lazier.
totally, yes, totally. I would love to get rid of my last of the intel iMacs, get a studio Mac and use the goggles as my screen. I still have my iPad Pro if I need a physical screen for anything... This is a genuine use case. This is what they are playing at.
