Presumably that's not coming to the "buy once" version of 1Password. It's a real shame. It used to be a useful app.
Is 1P an affiliate partner? Reads an awful lot like an advert at times.
Really? That's not what I was told by your support team when I tried to buy a standalone license for Windows:
I've been using 1Password for years on Mac and iOS, and am in the (slow and painful) process of switching to a competitor's product in large part because of the above email.
Currently I run two password managers, since only 1Password has a few features that I rely on, while the other one is compatible with Windows. It's a nightmare and I can't wait to drop 1Password entirely (the features I need are available in a beta of the other password manager).
I’ve been confused about this also. I love using 1Password, and I am currently using an older version for Mac and Windows. I would love to upgrade to a newer version, but don’t want to get locked into a subscription. I’ve received mixed signals from them in the past in regards to non subscription licensing.
I haven’t looked lately, but the last time I looked their website had no clear mention of a non subscription offering. If they are trying to hide the non subscription version from their new customers, that leads me to think that I might have to look elsewhere for my password management needs in the future - which is something I truly regret.
Wow. A great big advert for 1Password disguised as an article!
I was thinking the same thing, especially since someone claiming to be from the 1password team jumped in so quickly to defend any criticism.
But the breaches turned out not to be breaches after all?Nonsense. AgileBits very actively engages Apple for this type of integration, the same way Parallels does despite Apple offering Bootcamp. Yet still VMware Fusion and Dashlane exist. As for Lastpass, as a former user both personal and corporate, I am still concerned about their breaches a couple of years back and prefer 1Pass for my workflow. Obviously YMMV depending on various factors.

There are of course a number of reports suggesting Apple may well be on the point of purchasing 1.Password. Personally I will stick with the best i.e. LP
How old are you again?Android app? Eww. Gross. I have a cow-orker who gets to handle those.
Apple is also not purchasing us: https://twitter.com/1Password/status/1016710603359096846
Honestly, until keychain can work in Chrome I'm sticking to 1Password, although I bought outright and don't pay a monthly subscription
That to much work, if I'm signing up for a site I should be able to just generate one and save it to the keychain, without having to leave the app I'm in.Jeez. Go on web to secure password generator and you'll find a bunch...opt your parameters and generate, copy/paste to notes and work with that, then you also have that info to plug into any kind of password app you use. - OR save in contacts, at least for a little while,
Is 1Password available as a standalone option still or did they completely remove it?
Last I checked it was still possible to get but they made it difficult as you had to e-mail them. No matter what they say, I don't trust an entity to hold all my passwords regardless of what they say and do (referring to the cloud sync).
I've been using KyPass app to make use of a local KeePass database, but it's not as refined as what 1Password looks like.
How old are you again?![]()
Hate these subs, no thanks, the built in keychain does a good job for most of us.
Wow. Learn something new daily. I’m still on the fence about the subscription model, mostly because I only want to keep certain entries in the subscription service and some I want to remain solely on iCloud. I’m pretty sure you can do that but when I researched it, the process of splitting wasn’t clear cut. Knowing I can purchase a license is good news.To be clear, we still offer licenses for 1Password 7 (Mac and Windows). Don't want to use our subscription service? You don't have to. Just buy a license, they're available in the app upon initial launch when upgrading from a previous version.
I am not 100% against the subscription model. I reserve that choice for things I find essential. I consider 1Password to be one of those essential services. That said, I still haven’t gotten a sub to 1Password because it would be an involved process that I haven’t set aside the time to research and implement.Agreed about subscriptions. Long time 1Password full price user that recently jumped ship after their latest release charge and subscription model.
The two substitutes that I found that do not have subscriptions, that are relatively inexpensive, claim to never go to a subscription model, and have basically about the same feature set as 1Password, and in some ways even more features are:
Enpass
Myki

[doublepost=1535048084][/doublepost]My problem with the keychain passwords is that they appear to only have one format and when I tried using it the site I tried it on rejected it because it didn’t adhere to their standards. 1Password does a better job but I still have to tweak the generated passwords to remove symbols that are not allowed.

YES! That's why they're the best.1Password allowed this?
The subscription model allows for planning.C'mon, there are payment models in the App Store other than just "subscription" and "free".
#2 and #3 ensure that users get our money's worth from updates. A subscription model does not ensure this.
- I just paid $5 for an app that doesn't have a subscription model. Paying a fixed cost isn't "free".
- As for updates and new features, if you make a new version that's sufficiently better you can submit it as a new app and if it is truly worth it, people will pay to switch to it. That is not working for free either.
- A developer can also add the new feature in the same app via an update, and ensure revenue by charging for the new feature as an IAP. Again, people will pay for it if it is worth it to them. That is not working for free either.
What the subscription model does is allow the developer to get ongoing money just for continued use, regardless of whether or not new features are compelling, or whether or not new features are even added at all.
YES! That's why they're the best.
(Sorry, my beloved Roboform)
[doublepost=1535050731][/doublepost]This is so exciting! I've been using 1Password for years (on my Mac, iPhone, and Windows PC when I still had it). On the iPhone it works well enough with its own browser, and is "integrated" into Safari. However, I use Google Chrome. On Mac, iPhone, and PC (at work). 1Password didn't used to work with Chrome on iPhone. HOWEVER! It looks like with iOS 12 it will! Whoop! Whoop!
Life was just made infinitesimally better. and I LOVE it!

We've had no breaches.

My problem is that keychain can't be easily be integrated into firefox or chrome, and I don't want to use safari as my browser on OSX, so 1Password works pretty nicely and it's about to get better on my phone
(also, it syncs my passwords to my non-macs as well)
Excellent, I’ll be checking it out shortly. You can do what you want with a subscription.
Simply sign up on our site, then open 1Password 6, sign into your account. It'll ask to migrate, simply say no to that dialog.
All of your data will be in your existing vaults but you'll have the option of the vaults in your account. Install version 7, same setup you have in version 6. Move items as you see fit from one to the other.
Without going too deep, our subscription accounts are even more secure than our standalone vaults. If you'd like the detailed answer let me know, but if you want the most secure option, our accounts are it. Standalone vaults are just as secure today as they were before, but we've amped things up significantly with accounts.
We recently had someone review our server code and I believe we'll be releasing the results of that soon. But we are the same people who made 1Password versions in the past as secure as it is, we've just applied all of our knowledge of that to our own server solution. It's the same people (I've been with 1Password for almost 7 years, I joined in December 2011) and we care even more about security and privacy now than we did back then. I realize this isn't something you can quantitatively judge, but I still think it's an important aspect. Our team has grown, but the same core people are here.
It only works with the 1Password beta. Will be available for the rest of us when iOS12 is available and 1Password updates their app.
