Let's say you asked the following quesition:

For anyone who bought product x, can you answer these questions:
1) does it do A?
2) does it do B?
3) does it do C?

Now imagine that many responses roll in, and they all say, "I like x so much", or "x seems to be fine", or "x seems to do everything I want it to".

Did anyone answer the questions? No.

Fortunately, I did resolve the problem as I now have a week 47. How did it stand up to my 3 questions? Not telling ;)
Well not to be rude, but you were sorta demanding that people MUST perform your approved tests, per your guidelines. Personally, I believe you should have found a demo model yourself with how precise everything needed to be. But, I'm happy you found your answers.

I went in today to get a replacement for a wk 45 that had the negative black screen and got a wk 1 (2008) but it still has the same issue. I am so mad. I have been dealing with this screen issue long enough. I had a two-month break after returning one of the problematic launch units for a refund in early October. But when I finally decided to give it another try in December, all hell broke loose again.

I am starting to wonder if Apple just repackaged the same-old bad screens with new enclosures and pushed them out.

I am going to my local Apple Store again tomorrow morning. I think I should stop acting like a nice, patient Apple fan boy and start acting like an angry customer.:mad::confused:

Some people should have their Costco cards revoked...

if this happens i will probably buy another one at costco and then return it next day with my "bad" one in the box.

So you will stick a defective unit into a box and return it to costco, even though you didn't buy it there? That's illegal and also unethical, of course. I assume you will want to tell them that the unit is defective? Well, of course they know the serial number and batch number of the unit you're returning and will compare that to the units they have received. If you didn't buy it there, they will figure this out as soon as they send it back for repair, and I am sure you will get a phone call from their legal division.

If you plan on returning it as a simple return, I guess you'll be off-loading your problem on an unsuspecting new customer, who will have to deal with your hassle. Ultimately, you'll end up getting the same phone call.

Costco has a great business model, but there are people who are trying to abuse it, I guess, which ultimately makes their products more expensive for the rest of us. Thank you very much for being so anti-social!

For my week 41 Touch:

1) How do these screen tests look? (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/small/) In particular, I'm interested in the first test (Quick gamma/contrast test), the contrast test, and the white saturation test.

All tests work fine except, like darkblu noted, only one box appeared for the white saturation test.

2) How about stuck pixels? You can test for them at http://appleservedup.com/pixeltest.html

No stuck/dead pixels.

3) Flickering screen at lowest brightness setting (with auto-brightness turned off). I noticed while browsing in a dark room that when I set the brightness all the way down, the screen flickered. It was only noticeable in very dark rooms.

No flickering problems when using any applications with brightness auto-adjust on and in a dark room, or with brightness manually adjusted to be very low.

16gb Week 46: Flawless
16gb Week 46: Flawless
8gb Week 49: Flawless

One 16gb is mine, the other is my fathers, and the 8gb is my girlfriends. We all got absolutely flawless ones, leaving me wondering how so many other people are having such a bad time with them... I guess we just got extremely lucky?

Maybe this good luck will turn around and bite me in the behind by giving me a bad Mac Pro... I sure hope not.

My week 40 has a lot of audio static. I can clearly hear it even with the ipod's original earphones, using sennheiser cx300 earplugs is impossible because of the static. Do you think I should exchange it?

anyone else having problems with dead pixels.
I got a week 47 for christmas noticed a really really big dead pixel.
Took it in today traded it in for a week 75(???)
And notice too big pixels in the center

I'm giving up :(

If the touch is still under warrantee they will fix it. As long your serial number doesn't show a stolen flag in their system. Craigslist is sketchy to me, I prefer ebay for their superior fraud protection.

To check if it's still under warrantee:

Good Luck
