I’ve just noticed that the crown on my S10 has become mushy.

Some times it doesn’t register a click/press.

I’m intending to take it into an Apple Store in the next few days, and requesting a replacement, under UK Consumer Law.

My series 8 has a very noticeable clicky crown, so I have that for comparison.

Anyone else had this?

do as suggest by @hg.wells first.
If that doesn't resolve it, approach Apple in a non-confrontational way, "demanding" a replacement might not give you what you want ... rather be nice and courteous and express your disappointment and ask for ways to resolve

Yeah bud, I'll be very polite.

I've had devices replaced, and even refunded, under the UK's Consumer Law.

just tested, my S10 is quite clicky. I know in the past it sometimes hasn't been. maybe because an arm hair got stuck underneath it. +1 for cleaning
Thanks for the reply, bud.

I’ve tried cleaning it, to no joy.

I have a funeral to attend in the morning, and I’ll take it into Apple afterwards.

I suggest using these cleaning brushes or pens to dislodge any debris or dust in that Digital Crown if you see any in there:

Did you also turn the crown while the watch was in the sink to get rid of it?

Also, had you got the watch seen by the Apple Genius yet? If so, did they send it out to repair depot ?

I know these terms are loose and subjective, but I'd say my Ultra 1 was "quite" clicky while my Ultra 3 is noticeably less so.
Weird how ultras despite they are of the same type of frame, that they have this difference too!

All the two Apple Watch I owned, the series 1 and my current 6, my digital crowns still work smoothly!

It’s definitely developed a fault.

I’m unwell at the moment, but have appointments tomorrow. If I attend my appointments, I’ll go into the Apple Store afterwards & request a repair or replacement, under Consumer Law.

Thanks to everyone for your input.

Of all my Apple Watches - most have been pretty clicky - I've had a few that were "mushy" but it was rare. My AWU3 definitely has a significantly softer crown click than my AWU1 / AWU2 had.

I had one Apple Watch where the crown would kinda get stuck - and I had to press hard and get a loud "click" - then it would click normally for awhile before seizing up again from no use. I just got in the habit of clicking it every month or two to keep it from seizing up. lol.

Interested to hear how your Genius Bar appointment goes.

Thanks for the info, bud.

I don’t actually have an appointment. I’m just going to walk in, and be prepared to hang around.

I’ll be claiming on the UK’s Consumer Law, so they have to make it right.

I compared it to my S8 earlier, and the difference is night and day.

This S10 has definitely gone wrong!

😉

It will either be a repair, or replacement.

Yes, that’s right. I’m not sure if series 11 users are experiencing the same problem, as they look quite similar from the outside.

When the Genius asks about AppleCare or warranty status, let them know about the UK consumer law. Explain that you need a swap or repair for the Apple Watch without out of warranty charges.

If the watch is sent out, wear the Apple Watch Series 8 until it returns.

Wishing you the best! 🤞

More importantly, hope you get better! Being sick/unwell is the worst! Watch second! Haha.

Things need to be cleaned. Technology hasn't removed that need, because no matter how fancy tech gets, humans are still flithy animals 😛

I've had the "mushy" crown issue, cleaning solved it.

The one that grinds my gears is people claiming their AirPods are faulty and /or Apple have nerfed them with an update, when really the AirPods are just gummed up with earwax and other debris.
