When I got my AWU3 last year in September, it failed to pair over and over and over until I finally went home and tried there with WiFi - strangely enough.
It takes forever to get those going out of the box and updates are so painful. Really crazy how long it takes.
Almost done 😛 Then you'll spend forever watching the Preparing! lol
Did you check which OS version it was on when you received it? Or did it start updating when you tried to pair it?View attachment 2639118
So two hours, and it’s still preparing.
Hopefully the 27 update will be more swift.
It started updating by itself.Did you check which OS version it was on when you received it? Or did it start updating when you tried to pair it?
this is a brand new, not refurb, right? might have been on watchOS 11?It started updating by itself.
I don’t know why it’s taken this long?
It forced me to update, so I have no idea what OS was on it.this is a brand new, not refurb, right? might have been on watchOS 11?
I can't remember at which point it is asking you - but, did you do the "restore from backup" or "setup as new"?Terrible experience.
Now it’s stuck on connecting.

I cancelled the pairing, and starting again.
This is ridiculous.I can't remember at which point it is asking you - but, did you do the "restore from backup" or "setup as new"?
I strongly recommend setting up as new
Get AppleCare on it and discuss it with the issueThis is ridiculous.
Got stuck on adding a card, so I closed the app.
Now it’s starting all over again.
I think this watch is a dud.
O good so it’s just the internet speed. And thanks for sharing your story. I never seen such issues with Digital Crown being stuck and defective besides if it got dirty in any way, but it seems like it is all sorted ✔️All got sorted, in the end.
Currently installing 27.
Big shout out to everyone 🫶🏻.

Hello, Mac.I never thought to check the crown on my AWU2 until I read thru this thread this morning. I just checked my crown and have that noticeable click when engaging my crown so I’m good.
What a nightmare you had to go thru to have a watch with a perfectly functional crown! Glad to hear everything eventually worked out and you were able to finally upgrade your replacement watch to WatchOS 27. Hopefully all your troubles with your watch are now behind you at this point👍🏽
