It's pretty saddening to see Android's newer releases run on old hardware better than older OS releases.

Diametrically opposed to Apple's "let's make everything 2...3+ year old useless" approach. This is one of the reasons a lot of tech literates are leaving Apple.

I think apple users don't really realize what power they actually have, just think of boycott for more controll over YOUR iDevice when the next iPhone comes out...
But apparenty some people would't survive if they don't get it the sam day it hits the shelves

Well, at least I myself don't recommend purchasing Apple product any more to people coming to me for purchasing advice... unlike 2-3 years ago when I wouldn't have recommended anything else. I'm really sick of Apple's absolutely anti-customer practices and lies.

(Yes, I've also been personally lied to by an Apple rep, back in the iOS5 days, when I very thoroughly explained him why I consider the drop of iPad 1/2 antialiasing a very bad move. He lied me the following, by taking me for a complete idiot: "it [antialiasing] was a bug". What a bunch of *******s...)

You better think twice before u say something. Because to enjoy iOS7 u need at least iPhone 5, but I have iPhone 4 once a magnificent device that new iOS totally destroyed for NO GOOD REASON!

So who is a spoiled ass me with my iPhone 4, can't yet afford better (excluding 4s) or you with your probably shiny iPhone 5s and all other brand new iDevices?

I have A4 on iOS7 is there chance for me to put it back on iOS6 then?

you have an iPhone 4. some people in the world are lucky to eat once in a week. be glad you have what you do. some aren't as lucky.

Says the guy with: iPhone 5 "launch day",iPad 3rd generation, iPod touch 5th generation iPod 4g...

Same goes for u think twice (or more) before u say some ********.

All right, this is the answer to end all threads, when someone has a problem with any device.

i've always been kind of surprised at the fact that iOS devices cannot be unlocked like android devices can. The bootloader on Android gets hacked all the time as I think about it there aren't too many android bootloaders that haven't been unlocked buy some sort of hack. Even Microsoft software has KMS server activation that gets volume license software activated. I guess it boils down to Apples security is really that good.

all i said was that you should be thankful for what you have. nothing else. and for your information, I'm 15 and worked mowing lawns all summer to pay for the iPad, i bought the iPhone with my own money, and the iPod 4g was given as a gift, as well as the 5th gen. i'm not trying to sound greedy... because i'm not. the only money i get is from summer jobs, where i work long and hard for not much. so, therefore, my argument is still valid. and by the way, i am thankful for what i have. i take care of my devices, and know that if any of them would stop working, i probably wouldn't have the money to pay for it.

hey, why don't you boycott apple's devices if you are unhappy? its apparently very simple since us iPhone users have so much power over apple...

Yes I know that every time u install iOS itunes "calls home" to check if your versions of iOS is the new one. But I think you could edit code of that .ipsw file so it would send to apple info saying it's the new iOS.

Ahh that my friend is a lost ancient art. It is a process called:

Pwning

It can only be done with Pwnage Tool. However, Pwnage Tool was successful because back in those days, the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and early week iPhone 3GS devices all had a huge hardware bug that allowed unsigned code to be uploaded as a .ipsw package and be installed through iTunes.

That hardware bug was corrected and it is now impossible to do a custom made .ipsw unless a new hardware bug is discovered that allows a non-signed custom made .ipsw to be uploaded and installed.

That makes it even worse ur 15 and have all these devices. When u already started with this ridicilous argument, I should tell u just ur iPhone 5 is worth at least 400$(not mentioning worth of all other devices) some people work whole day for 1$, so I think u should be glad to get amount of money during summer, that other (that u mentioned before) get i about 400 working days (many work more 14hrs/day) in mines... Just think about it kid before u say something that's total NONSENSE!

Apparently u don't even understand what boycott means...

I'm also affraid its lost Art, I think if more people would be doing something on that instead on jailbreaking and tweeking, there would be more success, I don't think they'r even trying.

Before you could downgrade anything you would need a jailbreak so this makes no sense.

Please do join in the efforts. Finding a hardware bug isn't a walk in the park. It is always much easier to find a software issue before hardware.

Wrong. Pwnage could take care of that through DFU mode.

Certainly, but I think jailbreak is already very developed, so it would be of more to try devlope in some other parts, don't u think so?

I can give u my word that I try to learn and research as much as I'm able to.

I still don't understand why some people want to go back to iOS 6. Actually any downgrade whatsoever. If iOS 1 (iPhone OS) looked like iOs 7, then people would be whinning about installing Symbian OS onto their iPhone 2g because they want to go back in time?

To the OP, willingness to learn and try is one thing ... actually getting down to it is another ..

Are you willing to invest (and burn obviously) money into iPhones on which you would be trying all the stuff out ... you might have to open up a few as well ... When one goes hunting for exploits (especially hardware) you have to expect bricked phones down the line ...

I don't think it's Apple's security being "good", but there are a -lot- more people actively working on hacking/rooting/modding Android than there are on iOS. iOS has..what...10 people? Android has entire freaking forums full of people, just look at XDA Developers. Imagine if we had an XDA community for Apple, we'd get **** done in no time.

Maybe if u would read posts above, u would understand. It is all brcause the iOS7 is a very hostile invoroment for iPhone 4/4s. But you should also know that newer isn't necessarily better..

As soon as I learn how to to try stuff on them, I am willing to waste money on that.
If those id/ots, we see on YouTube that make those retarded iPhone "DROP TEST" or "HAMMER TEST" or "MICROWAWE TEST" would have enough brain they (if not to try something out themselves) would donate these devices instead of destroying them. I think that's just showing us where the modern World is going...

That's what I am saying. I think people (hacker, programmers..) just THINK it's impossible, and that alone scares them away. Because they think it isn't worth investing in devices that can get broken during hacking, if in their opinion there is zero chances of succsess. I think no one or very few are really TRYING HARD enough...

Surprised at that statement I thought iOS had more developers. Android has only a few "top dogs" like Chainfire in my opinion and even fewer that can hack bootloaders. Like I said surprise the Apple version of the bootloader can't be hacked. I certainly don't have the skills but someone must. In the android world once they get root on a device its only a matter of time before the bootloader gets unlocked. Not sure the one has anything to do with the other but it must help.

Custom recovery for iOS that would be awesome.

I don't think he's talking about developers, more about hackes that would get to install any os u would like to ur iDevice. Problem ispeople know they can hack android and so they do it, but they also think it's impossible to hack iOS and they don't even try it.

It's not that they think it's impossible. This is obviously not true as evidenced by the many jailbreaks and unlocks since the original iPhone.

It's just way harder to get past Apple's security measures than Android's.
