I used to go on the Macworld website to read Apple news, but then I realised that most of the news stories came from Macrumors so I decided to cut out the middle man and just go directly to the Macrumors website.

I got fed up at work one day because Windows Vista couldn't handle a simple transfer from one USB drive to another (but a cheap $300 eeePC running an obscure version of Linux could) so I got pissed off (it was a bad day), sold my brand new Vista machine for 1/3 of the price, went online and ordered a Mac, then quickly researched it after I bought it

That research led me to Macrumors! I then anxiously perused the site daily until my first ever Mac arrived (which took about a month since I worked out of the country at the time).

Once it arrived and I turned it on I realized that computers were about to be fun again...

Back in 2005 a friend was all excited about her new iMac. I didn't know that much about Macs and was just sure she'd made a terrible mistake. I found Macrumors and was surprised when i wasn't finding loads of complaints and grumbling about this or that....people seemed to really LIKE their Macs. Wow, what a concept! Not too long after that I started having some hardware and software problems with my PC. My interest in the Mac grew stronger..... I joined MR in order to ask a couple of questions and because by this point I was definitely on the fence, my first user name was "On the Brink." LOL! Well, then came the keynote in which Steve was announcing the first iMac with an iSight camera built in. The first thought that flashed through my mind was, "oh, but I like the other model just fine!" Oops.... Guess I wasn't "on the brink" any more! The very next day I went to my local Apple store and bought my first Mac, the G5 iMac rev B.......

I became a regular lurker after WWDC in 2007 because I became fascinated with the iPhone at that time. I posted for the first time here, but never got the answer. Now I run a sticky detailing everything on jailbreaking iPhones. Irony at its best.

Originally I wanted to become a mod, but later realized I'd rather be Tallest Skil's replacement in many ways. Something I furthered pursued after he was banned and he allowed me to use his avatars. Hopefully I am. (I know I will get glaring eyes from this, even minus ones)

jav6454, I served with Tallest Skil, I knew Tallest Skil, Tallest Skil was a friend of mine. jav6454,, you're no Tallest Skil.

You don't "run" a sticky, there's no given power with being the thread starter that was sticked. ;) As for being "like" TS, GLWT. I wouldn't want to be someone who knew so little that he had to make up crap just to get attention but that's just me. :D

When I first got my mac three years ago, I was searching around for useful freeware programs. After a google search of various topics about macs, this forum showed up on most of them. After seeing the correlation, I spent the rest of my time looking through this site and gained a lot of useful information from reading threads that other people created. After reading for a while, I figured I should get an account just in case I had any questions. I asked a few questions in the next couple weeks and always got useful responses, and my knowledge about Macs grew substantially.

Becoming a part of this community has made me much more savvy about Macs and also computers in general and I am know known among my friends as the person who can help you with your computer problems (this is kind of annoying at times, but its also nice to know enough to actually be able to help).

I came to MacRumors for general help at first, but found an awesome community which I'm glad to be a part of.

Missed taking a left at Albuquerque.

B

It was a condition of my parole.

It's posts like this that keep me coming back, even when I swear it's not the same old place I once knew. *wistful sigh* :D

I found this place when I needed an answer for something with my powerbook. I browsed around and discovered it had a thriving community. I joined and it turns out it's brought a lot to my life. I've met some truly awesome people from this forum.

I have no idea what brought me here all those years ago. I do remember some great back and forth with Demi-Gods which got me to contribute and hang with a great bunch of people in the private forums. Met a ton of great people and have met over 25 in real life.

I was searching on google trying to find out when we would see powerbook G5's, anyway I ended up here, and I'm still waiting for my powerbook G5.

I was planning to buy a MBA, I searched google as far I remember and I was here :)

I like Apple prdoucts and here is a good place to learn everything in a short time.

a link from either the mac-forums.com or the rage3d forums brought me here. I don't really remember but I'e lurked for a few years and then finally decided to register last august.

If I remember correctly, I made two left hand turns and tripped over the infamous "GayWay" thread. I'd been lurking for an age, so I made my debut posting on 11th September 2005 and have been making a nuisance of myself since that fateful coming out.
KGB;)
