I hung out over in the Lounge at MacNN for a long time, before the place got way too toxic and all the cool people left. That was years ago, but now I'm looking for an engaging Mac-related venue again.
I found MacRumors when I first started to investigate buying a Mac back in 2008--I joined the forum about the same time I ordered my iMac and have been here ever since.
When I bought my first apple computer, it was quite a strange adjustment from windows for me; therefore, I went searching for help, shortcuts, etc. Like others, the rest is history.
When I received my MBP in 2008 I believe, I wanted to see if there were shortcuts compared to PC. Then I just hung around because I enjoyed the posts from the people here.
I've been reading a while. It is of course, one of the first places that come up on Google for Apple-related things.
I'd been using iPods since around 2003. It wasn't until late 2009 / early 2010 that I bought my first actual Mac. That is of course, when the first Quad-core iMacs came out.
Then late 2010, I guess something compelled me to make an account.
I periodically check iClarified.com and I believe one of the articles that they posted referenced MacRumors. I have been checking the front page of MacRumors for over a year, but I just looked at the forums this October and I really liked the information/community, so I just joined the forums this past October.
I really like Apple news. My homepage is iGoogle and I found the MacRumors Gadget and added it. I started reading MR a lot more and joined the forums about a year later. Great gadget for iGoogle. If only they had one for the MR Community forum.
I was flipping between macosrumors.com and here because i wanted to upgrade my quadra 840av. I lurked for a little while before i signed up, and did so right before 2002 macworld. I ended up getting a black g3 powerbook with the bronze keyboard. About 2 months after I bought it apple re-released the powerbook only this time with firewire, something which both rumor sites missed afaik. Thus began my expensive learning curve as to not be such an early adopter with new lines of apple products.
