Cash in hand.

I used cash via a debit card. I recieved a $400 tip at work for Christmas, and combined that with $100 in Christmas money that I received from my dad. I also saved a little bit of my overtime money each week between Christmas and the iPad launch. However without those gifts, I wouldn't have even considered buying an iPad. I had always wanted one, but they were always too expensive for my budget.

Paid with money I had now, but I got the money by selling an android tablet and an android phone, between the 2 I got the money for a 16gb black,I used to have an iPad 2 but went to android for awhile,I still have a white iPhone 4S I got launch day,I just really missed the iPad,right now I am using it as my only computer,I sold my MacBook am waiting for the ivybridge updates then I'll probably get an air or maybe entry pro,but right now I am doing fine with the iPad 3 and I love it!

I was planning on buying one later last year mainly to take to school on my days where I have a long break and for flying. Decided to wait for the new one to come out. This is my first iPad and will be my only for a few years.

You should always pay cash if you can't pay off your credit cards every month. I have no more credit cards because it's too easy to charge and rack up debt on non essential goods. A iPad is one of those items you can actually live without. That $540 iPad turns into a $600 to $700 iPad after trying to pay it off.

If you can't pay cash then you don't need it. It's like gas cards. Gas is already over $4 dollars a gallon and people are charging gas to their credit cards and not paying them off. But you know, I should not complain. Other peoples debt helps our economy.

Paid upfront in cash.

I understand that for some people the cost of an iPad is significant although I'd question how sensible it is to buy something so low value (relatively) on credit.

 It's Chanel, not Channel. And you can't go near one of their bags for under $2000. Just FYI...
I as a woman find bags and shoes a waste of money, just get a tattoo with Chanel on your forehead , then you really can impress everyone.lol

I paid cash for mine well debit card.
I sold my 1st gen iPad for $325.00 and just paid the difference.
I can't see financing something like this.

My first iPad was brought with a combination of birthday money and my salary.

My iPad 2 was brought with a credit card because of the awkward launch. I was working so couldn't queue up for 5pm, so my only hope of getting one was to order it online through John Lewis. The only way to claim employee discount from the company website is to use their credit card, it wouldn't work with a debit card or anything. I cleared the balance ASAP using my salary and the proceeds from selling my iPad 1 though :)

Credit cards = evil

*shudder*

I admit, I am one high maintenance bitch, but my husband doesn't care. :D

I have a few Coach bags and MAC makeup, he has his watches, dvds and cologne.

I don't "let" him buy anything, because he is not obligated to ask me, and vice versa. We are both blessed to work at the same place, doing the same job, and getting paid the same amount of money for it.

I wanted the iPad, he was meh about it. Now I want the new iPad, and the first gen will go to him.

I like gadgets.

ETA: forgot to add we paid cash for the first, will be cash for the second. Getting paid weekly kicks ass.

Amen!! My hubby's vice is his Jeep, which can be quite the price tag for "stuff". As long as he gets a new iphone when I get mine he doesn't care about the rest. I love my coach purses (only by outlet now) and I love my gadgets... paid in cash. I save for what I want... makes the purchase that much sweeter.

I voted for the first option but it doesn't accurately reflect the way I actually paid for it. I sold an AR-15 rifle to a buddy to pay for my third generation iPad since I simply wasn't shooting it any more after purchasing an AR-10.

Heck yes! Slide that card. Its all about who you know...you can get anything with a stamp card...just gonna know the right people.

I'm joking, but at the same time, I'm not joking, you really can.

The iPad is really just a toy. If you have a laptop and iPhone you don't really need one. They are great though, and I'm sure I'll buy another next time around. But like most things in life you don't need just pay cash. Credit should only be used when you need something and you can't afford to wait. For example you need a car for work and it needs new tyres but you have no money.

I'm sorry, but that information is private, between me and the people I met while standing under a lamppost.

Also, I sold my iPad2.

I paid with actual cash (six $100 bills, a single $20 bill and two $1 bills). Told myself if I couldn't bear to see that money leave my hands then I didn't need a new iPad. I did it! LOL.

Pre-ordered online so Credit Card, paid balance in full about 3 days later :p

USUALLY i use my interest free accounts on best buy and amazon, otherwise it's credit card. I'm going to apply for a rewards card though, i spend entirely way too much on my debit card every month to not gain any reward points.

Even on the iPad I probably could have saved 15$ in rewards if I had the right card.
