Paid with my chase freedom visa for reward points, at best buy for reward zone points.
This thread surprised me somewhat with the amount of people paying with debit/cash. Yes I could have easily done that too, but I don't because I use my credit card responsibly.
Yes CCs have high APRs and will nail you if you carry an outstanding balance, BUT IF YOU PAY OFF EVERYTHING YOU OWE EACH MONTH YOU DONT INCUR ANY OF THOSE INTEREST FEES!!! Or any fees at all with the right card.
Sure I guess that some people simply don't have the self restraint to be able to carry a credit card around without spending more than they have, but this thread makes me think that number is way larger than it should be.
It seems that people have it ingrained in their heads to automatically think huge inescapable debt when using credit. Possible, yes, but only if you don't know how to manage your own money or if your 9 year old does some online shopping lol. Read a personal finance book, learn how to live within you means (by choice, not forcing yourself by only using a debit card/cash) and even if your credit limit is above that it doesn't matter because as long as you're in touch with you checking balance you already know how much you're able to spend. Bottom line is you don't need a degree in accounting and finance to mangage a credit card responsibly and get free cash and rewards back. Just paid for the majority of my trip to Hawaii in reward points after saving them up for a few years.
I don't use credit cards. I'd rather use my own money instead of paying someone back with growing interest.
Only if you buy something you cant afford. It's still your money, except it's earning you more than what your checking account will.
