It's best to chill a little with the Apple Pencil. When I saw the poll in this forum which had the pencil as the item with the highest going-to-buy count, I figured there were going to be problems.

I was lucky enough to order online with a delivery period of 20-27 Nov, so I have that fallback if nothing else. Perhaps others might try the same, the delivery periods may improve, and you can always cancel or return if you manage to get it somewhere else.

Exactly. That's my strategy. I'm in the 1-2 week shipping window. There's no way it's actually going to take that long. I'll be looking around in the meantime and if anyone nearby gets them in I'll just cancel or return the one from Apple.

That would have been my plan but a glitch said it was available to pick up in store, but the store called and said it was a glitch and that I just have to wait or reorder online with the 3-4 week wait.

Pencil and keyboard paid for online 2:15 am for north Texas pickup. NOT THERE!
Stores don't know when will be available.
iPad pro waste of money. If not sold out would have cancelled.
Now wait 13.5 days and return if no pencil.
Substituted Logitech keyboard.

Used the Apple Pencil in store and was greatly disappointed. You can't access Notification Center or Control Center, cant go back a page on safari, have to use the back button. The keyboard is nice. Very easy to type, but the pencil is a huge disappointment for me anyway.

It's not a stylus as we were used to in the past.

The Pencil is to mimic a writing device input only - Not do all the navigation on the display.

I just got off the phone with the store in Tampa Florida. They said they had zero this morning but do expect to receive some towards the end of the week

Oooh this gives me hope.

One of my two local stores said they were expecting them next week. The other just said they were "online only," but that sounds like a way of saying "out of stock" politely to me so it probably means nothing.

First in line this morning in Indianapolis. Got my Pro, but no pencils or keyboards. Yes, very disappointing. Ordered one online with 3-4 week window. Makes no sense to me what so ever. Also, seemed to be a whole lot of confusion in the store. So far I love the larger size. The air 2 was just a tad too small for me. This may pull me me away from my 27" iMac.

Not everyone, but I bet 8 out of 10 users definitely want the pencil and Apple should of known this. From what I've been seeing, less than 3 out of 10 users who bought one actually got it on launch day. That is simply inexcusable.

I agree that Apple should have had more of them in stock for the launch. I just don't think they needed to have one for every iPad Pro.

If I have to wait, I'll wait on Apple to deliver them not some scalper on ebay.

But there will be many who won't. Many of the would-be-scalpers are already making their plans to be the first at the Apple stores when those Pencils start arriving to do their part to draw out the wait and capitalize on this shortage.

I expect Apple to remedy this soon, but not before we see a few opportunistic $200 buy-it-now, or 3-day auctions on eBay.

I think someone said earlier, they change the packaging to ship with an adaptor apparently? I have a feeling they will become readily available within a week.

Yeah, I assumed that's the reason for the "shortage." I know they announced that adaptor after-the-fact so they might have recalled all boxed pencils to put in those adaptors
