Ok, This is my battery Health. My full charge capacity is only 870... Is this bad?

Here are some helpful tips for everyone:

1) Everytime you plug your phone in, whether it's to the wall or to computer, it counts as a charge cycle.
2) Try to avoid tethering to computer unless you absolutely have to. If you do, leave it until fully charged.
3) Try to avoid quick charges... I.E. Your battery is at 50% and you have a 20 minute window to shove a little more in. Don't do this!
4) Try not to charge until below 20%. Much better to wait til below 3%. Whenever you do charge, leave plugged into until completely full...not 99%. Completely full.
5) Once a month, drain the battery completely.

If you follow these tips, you'll save cycle counts, your battery won't suffer from weird drain issues, your battery's health will be fine and you will go years before needing to replace it.

Except that all scientific and and real information pretty much goes against most if not all of that. With today's batteries just charge whenever you want, as often as you want, for as long you want.

Agreed these batteries can be charged when ever needed, apple if I recall correctly removed the discharge completely once a month advice from their site. I would have thought doing that too often does more harm than good!

LOL every one of those points is completely wrong.

Have I been ripped off?

Hi,

After buying a 2nd hand Iphone4S I noticed that the battery life was draining quite poorly. Also dropping out at 17% etc My mum had had the same problem and said that replacing the battery was making it better.

So went into my local independent phone repairer and they said they'd replace the battery for me. When I got it back, there was no real change. So after a while I took it back in and they said they'd replace it again.

Still no change, so saw this and thought I'd check it out.

The results show a cycle count of 383. That doesn't sound like its a new battery? Also the difference between the fullcharge capacity and design capacity doesn't sound right.

What do you think?

I just had my iPhone 5 replaced by Apple for free under warranty due to a battery failure.

It had been turning itself off at anywhere between 20% and 50% battery, show a dead battery icon when trying to turn back on, but then instantly turn on when plugged into a charger and display that original % again.

Apple genius told me the battery had failed. On their iPod devices they carry around, the screen showed like 4 quadrants and 2 of them were red and others different shades of green. Not sure if there are 4 cells in the iPhone battery or something, but it seemed like half of them had failed and they were happy to replace.

I just ran the tool on my iOS devices in the family. We also have iPhone 4S but my daughter isn't at home right now, so I cant get the readings from her phone.

Device Original Capacity Current Capacity Cycle Count % left
iphone 5S 1550 1407 203 91%
iphone 5 1430 1300 511 91%

iPad 3 - 1 11560 9826 283 85%
iPad 3 - 2 11560 10108 127 87%
iPad 2 6583 6174 371 94%

I believe all of our devices are holding up pretty well when it comes to the battery life.

My wife just had her battery replaced.
It's time for your Genius Bar appointment.
Their diagnostics showed that her battery had a bad sector and that is what was making it jump from 76% charge to 17% charged and then back up to 55% charged after only a few minutes of use from 100%. And yes, it shut down and came back up during her useage.
79 dollars later, she is raving about how good her battery is.

Anyone??

I got my iphone battery replaced two months ago; there was 1400 cycles on the battery and it only lasted a few hours! A day later through Amazon Prime, I got my battery replaced an it was only $12. It had 43 cycles to start with but I really didn't care.

As far as I'm aware, the battery stats are stored in the battery circuitry, so if they swapped the battery out for a brand new one, you should have very low charge cycles (depending on how much you've charged it since getting it replaced) and near full maximum capacity.

The numbers you're getting there suggests either they charged you money while not actually doing anything, or they replaced the battery with a used one that was salvaged from a broken iPhone for spare parts.

Just doing the maths, a cycle count of 383 based on one charge cycle every 24 hours (actual usage will vary, of course) would mean that battery has probably been used for over a year.

There is still much debate on this and if your point was 100% fact, then why would they have cycle count apps in the first place?

Does anybody know other tools than ibackupbot to check the battery?

On the phone directly, there is one $0.99 app called Battery Doc. Otherwise, you'll need to be jailbroken. Many free or paid apps on cydia.

There are still things that can be measured, like cycles, of course. And there's still a particular battery life that's in play. However none of that means that there's really something there that is worthy enough of being followed religiously when it comes to some sort of charging patterns that would noticeably affect battery life (short of extremes perhaps where more than normal amount of heat is involved or something else of that nature). Not much debate going on about that.

quite a few cycles on my 4S...

My iPhone 5s battery is very bad and sometimes drains quickly. I often charge it in my car via a proper in car Belkin charger I bought from an apple shop though. I will run this app in the morning and post my results.

That suggests my battery is actually quite healthy? So maybe it's the type of charger I'm using that causes it to decrease fast?

downloaded ibackupbot because I got curious!

This is my 10~ month old 5S on 7.1.1

New battery from iPhone 5 replacement programme

Anyone got a read out from a brand new or close to new iPhone 5 or 5s and the design v/s full capacity?

My battery was replaced Friday evening and I received it with a 40% charge, since then I have charged it once (Friday night) and I haven't needed to charge it until now (mid-Sunday). Anyway these are the stats:

Battery

CycleCount: 1
DesignCapacity: 1430
FullChargeCapacity: 1408

BatteryCurrentCapacity: 13
BatteryIsCharging: true
ExternalChargeCapable: true

Here is my battery health, is it good?
My Iphone5 turns off about at %7-9 battery charge
