How do you feel about the 16GB base model (still)?

I trust that Apple knows better than you. It is all about business and making a profit, but then that is a big no-no according to many of you!

If Apple retired the 16gb and made the 32 base the amount of people buying it will be at least the same and if note more. Some people got the 64 because there is no 32gb. The profit off the lower models have always been more then the higher capacity. Sure per unit Apple is making less per unit but selling more of the base model.

You might be on something here! Maybe you should all Apple and tell them what you have thought of. I am sure they would appreciate your help. ;)

for me 16gb is enough on a tablet. only use it for surfing and stuff.

but i need more on my iphone, because that one is full of photos, navigation apps, music etc.

would it be nice to get 32gb for the same price? sure. do i need it? no.

saying its not enough for everyone is just not true.

16 GB on an iPhome or iPad is absolutely ridiculous but choking up and paying the extra hundred for 64 gb this time around on the iPad was totally worth it. Love having so much multimedia on this thing after spending s year with my 16 GB Air

16gb is more than adequate for many people and I couldn't care less.

However, remember they used to have 8, 32, and 64 GB versions of the iPod touch, and they increased the base model the next year. I assume they'll do the same next year.

16gb for iPad Mini is adequate from my perspective but it all comes down to the user and how they plan to use it. 16gb for me would be plenty as I intend on only using it for eBooks, maps (when travelling) and web browsing.

16gb for iPad Air 2 is way too small. I have a 16gb iPad 2nd gen and I only use it for web browsing, mail and a few games. But when I get my iPad Air 2 I'm definitely going for 64gb. Now that it is more powerful and capable (as in RAM) I'm going to try running some high end, resource intensive apps on it. These will no doubt require more storage space.
I'd also like to keep TV shows and Movies on there without worrying about running out of space all the time.

For the past few years I always had 16 GB on my iPhone's. It was adequate enough because I used it for web browsing, email, texts, and a phone call now and then. ;)

My iPad Air is 16GB and once I started working on photos for relatives the space filled up quickly. Plus when one of the updates to the iOS wanted 5.5 GB of free space I knew then I needed to get more in the future? I ordered an Air 2 with 64 GB and that should be fine for me. I hope! :)

clearly to force people to go for the 64gb pricerange - they dont care how many gb we go for but how much we pay more -

the 32gb wasnt really a bad size, most people went for it, all people moved to 64. (paid the extra)

same like ipad mini, the mini retina is not like someone says ' a bad tablet - sizewise ' they want that for such a tool WE PAY MORE (on the range of the iphone 6+)

they will axe the 16 and 32 gb models
they will axe a cheap (like now) ipad mini and mask it as iphone 7-8-9 plus

I've always been fine with 16gb iPads but this time for the Air 2 I went with 64gb since the extra $100 was a no brainer in my mind...exactly what Apple wanted me to do haha. But I feel different about the Air 2 vs. all other iPads. I plan on keeping this device far longer than any other iPad I've owned. It hits the sweet spot in so many areas for me and I have no need to upgrade for a long time now. So for longevity sake I decided to go with 64gb, never know what goodies/apps/etc...will appeal to me over the next few years and I can also put my music on it. I will never use cloud based storage, maybe I'm in the minority on that, I just have no desire to ever go there and like my data on my own device and own storage, accessible to me whenever I want it.

Besides it being an entry solution for many general consumers, I can see the 16GB as an enterprise solution, especially for people in sales or small business owners.

I've seen iPads at a number of expos, conventions, and at small businesses where the person is simply taking contact and/or payment information to go elsewhere. Nothing is being stored on the device. Its just the perfect size for that kind of venue. No bulky computer, laptop, or cash register needed. Plus, a consumer would trust putting their information into it over a business rep's phone with a card reader attached.

Either way, no big deal to me. I am just one consumer amongst millions others. We all have our own needs/want relative to our iPad usage. Personally, I would rather see 64GB as minimum for future proofing, but then starting prices would be higher also, which could effectively cut out some of Apples' consumer base.

I can see my new 16gb Air 2 being a bit interesting especially with the mystical 'other' that can take anything up from 2gb to 4gb.

Got a 32gb Air which I will easily sell and I use about half of that. So 16gb will be very tight without a some storage management, which I appreciate a lot of folks can't be bothered with.

Quite fancy the challenge of keeping under 16gb. On the old Air I loaded photos I never looked at, music I never listened to and apps I never used. The price I get for my old one will go well towards the Air 2.

If it doesn't work out there'll be another one along in a few months!

They won't axe the 16 gb iPad. $499 is the range they want and probably makes most of their money with the 16gb over the 64 or 128gb.

That's probably the sole reason why I will never suggest the 16gb models. Mine currently has 2gb of other.

I have always gotten the 16, but with the OS taking up more and more space each time and my collection of media growing (no cloud for me), I would consider buying the 64GB at this time. It seems to be the most bang for the buck. They should have made the 32GB the base model, but they know people like me would be tempted and probably go for the 64GB model.

If you can afford the extra $100 I would say go for it . Better off having extra space then to little
