I'd go for the cheaper of the two. My guess is (and I have zero experience here just so you know) that they will both shave the same. The nice thing is the blades for these things are what, a few bucks for a pack? Exact opposite of what I'm paying for my mach 3 replacements. That alone has got me considering a switch.

I don't shave anymore. I have thin, blonde facial hair, and just trim it with a beard trimmer at the shortest setting.

However, I have shaved before, and was obsessed with getting a close shave. One element that people don't think about is the skin itself. Basically, it's easier to shave healthy skin. So, using an emollient moisturizer can help, as does using some sort of chemical exfoliant (I would recommend beta hydroxy acid 2%). If your skin is smoother, it's easier to draw the blades across the skin.

My other technique was if I had any length of facial hair I would first trim it very short. Then I would wet shave with the grain and then against it. Rinse the razor after every stroke.

Can't think of anything else for the best possible shave!

well not everybody has the same hair .. personally no matter how much time i spend after like 3 hours it's already looking like i forgot to shave

if i go that extra lengthy mile i might get another 2 hours but after that nothing can help ...

Im gonna have to give this wet shave, and DE razor stuff a shot. I use a Mach 3, and some Gillette foam in a can, and it works ok, but parts of my neck always get red, and irritated. I have started letting the shaving cream sit on my face for a min or 2 before shaving though, and that seems to help.

After a hot shower is the best time. No irritation, and skin stays smooth.

This is what I do. Your skin is already moistened from the hot water and steam and you get much less irritation.

I use the Mach 3 from Gilette - the local supermarket sent it to me as a bonus gift and it's the best razor you can get I think. Cartridges are expensive tho'

Mach 3 here as well. I only get a bit or irritation after a day or so and only on my neck, when it starts to grow back.

All after a hot shower, with some cheap-o own brand shaving gel.

All that traditional stuff scares me, even before I saw Sweeney Todd.

That's part of what the wet shaving that shecky posted is about. There are different ways to wet shave. I personally would use a safety razor. I really like this razor, and I'm seriously thinking about getting it. The razor itself is about $25, and the blades are under $3 for 5 of them. That sure beats the money I'm paying for Mach 3 refills.

That's exactly what I use. I love it. Took a week or so for the nicks to stop, but now it's great. I bought a box of 500 blades from someone on ebay for ten bucks. I don't have a brush yet, but I'm thinking about it.

You are set for life now, eh? ;)

so am i the only one who uses an electric shaver?

but i think i'm going to stop though. i don't think i've had a nice shave in my whole life. it seems i'm always getting ingrown hairs. and it's never really smooth.

i will start doing it right after the shower though

Mach 3 has been the best razor by far for me. And ive tried alot, schick quattro, fusion, etc.... :)

Thanks for the hint, there's one just down the street from me. I wouldn't have thought to look there first either.

I dun get it. What's the difference between a "wet shave" and just shaving in the shower. If I started using the brush, some shaving cream, and shave in the shower, I'm not sure I'd even need the brush. It's supposed to be good because it's highly water absorbent and is needed to mix well with the shaving gel. If I shave in the shower, surely my face is wet enough. That problem is already solved. Using a showering "cloth" or foam brush or something on your face should help exfoliate the skin.

Also, how often do you replace the blades on those classic razors?

Can someone recommend a brush in the $400 mark. Must NOT be sterling silver as it tarnishes.

Also a matching razor compatible with Gillette Mach 3.

Ta:)

I replace the blade about every 5 or 6 days, or once a week. They're so cheap it's economical to do that. Plus the blade is always sharp because of how often I change it.

Am I the only one who read that as "How do you get a close slave?"?

*should hang around the fetish scene less*

on topic: I don't, my legs are generally a bit stubbly
