Big city, stranger, smells fishy, no way. Car accident, small child, etc. sure.

I always let them use it, but I have to dial the number for them to make sure they need to make a call.

With how expensive iphones are, I would guess no one here allow any strangers to use their phone.

I have a pretty intimidating look about me. Outside of family, I've never been asked by anyone to use my phone.

Family and friends, sure.

Total strangers? No. I have called on behalf of total strangers before, but I would never hand my phone over to a total stranger on a street who, probably, can run faster than me!

I think in the future I will bend the truth a bit and say "I'm sorry but my phone can only be used by my fingers as it's one of those new Touch ID phones."

I've only been asked once that I can remember and I said NO. The guy was strange and if he didn't accept my answer there would have been trouble.

Person in line in front of me at lunch today had their credit card rejected, I paid for their meal. It feels good to help people. Give it a try.

Sorry, I don't believe you. The way you treat people on this board does not fit with the person you claim to be. From everything I've witnessed of you, you treat people like crap. Good luck to you.

Lol do you live in middle America? There are no payphones in my state anymore (California)

I know there may not be as many....but there are plenty of pay phones in So.Cal:)

----------

Not a chance. If its an emergency i'll call for them. Other wise they can get their own phone.

that's what I would do.... but now as I type this, how many know numbers by memory anymore???? I know that I only know my mom's number( been the same number since I was in jr. high/high school), I'm 40 now and live on the other side of the US.I know my work number and my own cell but that's it.

Emergency calls. iE: Car broke down, Accident, Health...I'll make the call for them.

Just run of the mill calls, and they don't have a phone because of $$. Suggest getting the Obama Phone...It's free

Obama Phone? You're not serious.

Car accident, or some one really hurt ok but just out of the blue in the middle of the street or mall sorry no my $15 US prepaid phone when we travel ok but not my $700 Iphone 5S

Its sad that you have to expect that they will grab and run these days but times and people have changed and not for the better.

Never been asked by a stranger. Most I can do is for an acquaintance and that's stretching it. I usually get fidgety when someone else i dint completely trust is holding my phone.

Agreed! Bargle has made some pretty harsh and ugly statements and condemnations. Not to mention they've made it clear they're a Christian--probably a KJV only type. He/She must not actually read the "good book" too often or they wouldn't have made the statement about paying for another person's lunch....

Matthew 6:1-4 1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth : 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly .

No one has ever asked to see my phone and even if they did, I'd say no.

Funny I should see this thread today. Yesterday while checking out at Walgreens my Walgreen's card would not scan on my new 5S. The lady said here let me try and as she turned it around she nearly dropped it.

Well I learned my lesson, even though it was a near miss.. That will be the last time I hand my phone to anyone.

BTW, the card never did scan. It has always worked before. Maybe Walgreens needs an iOS7 update...

I rarely, if ever let anyone use my phone except my son (he has his own, 16 years old) or another relative. Friends just don't ask. Strangers, forgetaboutit.

Some guy just asked me the other day on the street, I was like, um no!

If they need to make a call that bad, go beg for $0.50 to make your call from a pay phone. I'm not handing my $1000 phone to you.

Funny how a street full of people with phones, yet they go up to the guy with an iPhone out.

Yeah with the current iPhone shortage, at this point I wouldn't hand anyone my phone.

Walgreens scanners cannot just be pointed at the iPhone screen. The employee has to pull the "trigger" on the handheld scanner for it to work.

Dunno why.

I had a guy in a restaurant bar ask me once so he could call his girlfriend. Absolutely not!!! Like I want some jealous girlfriend suspecting her man is cheating and now she has MY number!!!

Live in NYC I wouldn't let anyone use my iPhone at all, Cus you never know what what happen these days...

Yea, I've used the 4S at Walgreens since their app came out and never had an issue. Yesterday was my first time there with the 5S and even when she pulled the trigger on their handheld scanner it would not read it.. Not sure why but I did learn one thing, I won't be handing them my phone anymore..lol..

I'm going to try another store today and see what's up. They may just need to update their app for iOS7. I hope it gets straightened out..

I don't like my friends or family using my phone let alone a stranger :p

But it would really come down to the location I was in. I think that'd be the most important factor. E.G. pretty empty park might not let someone (easy to run away with). Sitting on a bus not near the door? More likely to.

I actually had a guy approach me at the mall a few weeks ago and asked me- it kind of caught me off guard. I told him I was low on minutes for the month and overage charges were really expensive.

If it was a friend or somebody I knew, that'd be one thing. But a complete stranger that could take off running in any direction... Yikes!
