I walk a mile in about 13:20. Running is bad for you.

that a pretty brisk walk

yea working out is bad for you . i mean we only have so many heart beats so why stress our heart lol;)

Or a lot of liars! :D

yea i mean seems half the people here run sub 6's and in many cases run sub 5's lol. wont lie, kinda have a hard time beliving it but its great if true

i usually get around 8-10 mins per mile. i usually run about 2.5-3 miles (depending on which way i go, and if i've had, or am going to have a bad day that day) after work/before school.

but i'm pacing myself

When I ran CC in HS, I kept a pace of about 6 minutes or so for >5k. Nowadays, I only get to run once or twice a week, <5k, and I'm happy if I keep it under 8 minutes.

4:41, when I raced the mile. These days, the fastest I do is about 6 min, but that's just in the middle of a longer run. I don't know what I could do if I raced a mile now.

Yeah, perhaps it's just because I come from a country which doesn't use that funny unit for distance anymore, but I have no idea how fast I could run 1.6 km (1 mile) if that's the total distance I was running.

I guessed around 7 minutes before, but that's in the middle of a longer run. I'm actually very curious right now.

What's an average time for a person who runs?

Nice. The last time I could even get close to that was 3rd grade. I did a 4:50.

4:50 in 3rd grade!?

I ran a 6:30 mile in my sophomore year of high school. I've been gradually getting into shape again; it'd probably take me 7:30 now though (sophomore in college). Hopefully I'll get it back down.

I can't. I'd collapse of a heart attack somewhere around the 1/2 mile mark.

Seriously, though, I have no idea. It's been a very long time since I've run anywhere.

The fastest I've ever ran is around 6:43 lol I'm in track, but thats not my thing. I'm a hurdler. Just last week was the Frosh/Soph Top 8 and my friend ran a mile in 4:25 IIRC and 2 miles in 10 something. What a beast !

I ran the mile in 7:32 but thats pathetic, I should run and im training for basketball to run it at or below 6. I ran 2 miles in 13:01.

1600 metres in 10-11 minutes... never tried to get faster than this as this is enough for me to maintain my body... dont want to apply for olympics...

4:19 was my PR in high school, and only shaved off 5 seconds in college. I peaked too early!! :(

Wouldn't that time get national attention on the high school level, or have the top high school athletes surpassed a time like that?

Back when I was in HS I ran it in 5:45. I was a soccer player and in excellent shape. But that was 17 years ago. Now, I'd frickin' keel over after the first lap. Sucks that once you get in shape, you actually have to exercise to stay that way.;)

Same for me, but I was at 5:32 when I played college football. Was clocked my soph year on a bet cause I said i could break 5:30 for a mile...freaking 2 secs! I'm lucky to be able to run one in say 15 min now....and i do me run. Pathetic.

Slowly. Since my motorbike accident in 1994 I can't run more than about three hundred metres without getting severe pains in my right knee. I still stay fit, but it has to be using non-impact methods.

So yeah, I'd say probably in about 50 minutes, although I'd only be running for about 10 of them

Oddly enough it can be good for you too , just don't over do it and pay attention to your body.

No clue about the mile, but I just ran a 5k in 18:46 :)

What happened in your accident so long ago that there is still remaining damage? I know extreme sports people who have lasting injuries, too and bikes certainly take the top seed in heinous injuries. Skateboarding, street skating in particular, comes in a close second. There are quite a few pro skaters who love motorbikes, and skater Shane Cross died this way.

6 minutesish.... though some days I come in about 6:30.
I've found medium distance running just needs practice, practice, practice.
I couldn't even run a whole mile a couple of years ago. Hahaha :D
Woo go me.

Last time I clocked it was about a month ago. I ran it in about 7 min 15 seconds. I used to be a sprinter in track, so distance was never a strong point for me.

I never run. Once a year I run a mile to prove to myself that I can, it's usually somewhere around 7ish. One time I ran two miles. That sucked. :p
