Safari crashed within minutes of upgrading. That's disappointing. Still no video recording. That's disappointing. I'd also like them to fix the bug when you're holding down the delete button and it just keeps deleting long after you let go...

I'm happy so far, mostly because Safari is so much more stable. And I like getting podcasts on the go.

My podcasts are now listed in backwards order. Great

I love that! I hated that when you played through a podcast, it would then start playing the previous, instead of the next. This way, you can keep playing them in the correct chronological order without fiddling with it. Makes more sense to me.

I like street view and the walking and transit directions too.

So, I think this is a good update, but I'm still hoping for copy/paste, MMS, and universal search sometime soon.

Two new features I really like - Street View and Podcast downloads. I love being able to sit in my easy chair and just "walk" around NYC. Great for arm chair traveling. Plus I've never been much for Podcasts because I never liked to have to connect my iPhone to my laptop and sync them. Now, I just download a new program whenever I'm ready. Both features are terrific IMO.

IMO the only feature that I'm missing that would make my iPhone just about perfect is Notes sync.

It's ok. I didn't vote in the poll because I am still just so bored with the iPhone already. I use my BlackBerry as my main phone and rarely use the iPhone anymore.

Ha-Ha, I would think you'd get bored with a Blackberry first, as oppose to an iPhone.

Right on

I'm happy with it, although I've been generally happy with my Iphone since I got it. I've had No real problems to speak of at all.

I would like to see copy/paste but it sure isn't a deal breaker.

I have to laugh at the people that think they "deserve" something from Apple, you can request all you want but you don't "deserve" anything other than what was listed as features when you bought the phone. If you didn't do the research to know what it could do and what it couldn't before you bought it that's your own fault.

Finally a voice of reason.

I guess I'm happy with it. I'm all for more stability before the addition of major new features. The OS does seem to feel more confident. However, I'm happily typing this post on my iPhone in landscape, and whenever I do, it makes me wonder why I can't in Mail or Text? Is this really that hard to impliment in those programs? I just don't get it.

Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe I should have voted 'OK' instead of 'happy'. I guess I'm somewhere in between the two.

I'll be looking into jailbreaking for the first time as soon as Quickpwn is ready to go with 2.2.

Needs mms

I don't need mms, but copy and paste would be nice. What I really want is landscape email and text. It would be SO EASY and make such a difference. I can't understand why they won't give it to us.

I am very happy with the update for one reason, Safari stabilization. Safari seems to be running much, much better. I'm still waiting for it to crash since the update. Combo boxes feel very snappy and even Edge feels faster. I'm no longer afraid to touch the screen while a page is loading.

If Safari continues to run this well, I give the update an A+. Fixing bugs and other issues should always take priority over features.

Safari has crashed 3 times today since my above post. On wifi.

:mad:im very dissapointed with this update not being able to forward sms or to recieve files via bluetooth whats the point apple doesnt listen if your are outside the usa so whats the point in even selling the iphone 3g outside the us if YOU ARE NOT LISTENING APPLE FOR NOW AS SOON AS MY CONTRACTS UP IM GOING TO BLACKBERRY TOUCHSCREEN FED UP WAITING FOR THE SIMPLE THINGS LIKE MENTIONED ABOVE .

iphone doesn't even have a data vault for user's personal files, not to mention opening that up for bluetooth file transfer, but anyway apart from some documents and possibly spreadsheets, what do you wanna keep in your phone other than music, video and photos that you can already do it easily in itunes? for documents and spreadsheets, airsharing does a pretty good job.

and, i have personally tried the blackberry storm, it's just sooo sooo crap and much worse than it appears. go ahead if you want and at least i find the blackberry touch screen useless if you wanna type fast

oh... i meant to say, the click screen...

Finally a voice of reason.
Haha. Typical attitude of a cult member. Considering that MOST people buy the iPhone as an impulse buy or because it's trendy abd based on Apple's name and commercials, it's not based on reason. If you want to get technical, most everything can be considered the consumer's "fault". That's the typical attitude of stores and companies in Asian countries. Once you buy it, it's yours. If there is anything wrong with it, too bad. We have your money so now get lost. That's essentially Apple's attitude. Any way, the bottom line this thread isn't about blaming the little guy. ;)

only interested in the podcast update. But am very bummed on the whole deal now that I went ahead and did the jailbreak all over again. Sure, kind of cool you can download them on the go, but really, it's not implemented very well. Like mentioned earlier in the thread, no list or way to keep track of what you have and don't have. I downloaded a short podcast, listened to it, clicked the link to get more podcasts and the one I just downloaded showed up as if I had never downloaded it. What is that? I have to remember when I've got and haven't. This is going to be very frustrating, hopefully this is fixed soon.

Coming from JB with Winterboard on 2.1.

I am very pleased with 2.2. First off, simply using a Vanilla 2.2 over the JB 2.1 is a pleasant, snappy experience! MobileSafari has reached perfection; my favorite part being the ability to cache pages. Previously, when I exited Safari in the middle of entering text in a form (here on MR or Apple Feedback) it would refresh the page; losing all entered text. On 2.2 I have exited for well over 20 minutes; opening other applications and such and returned to find the text there! This also goes for opening a site, then a new page, then another...they all display without refreshing.

Best of all...NO CRASHES :)

I would LOVE this update but instead I am lukewarm. I was excited over the podcast download, however, it doesn't detect updates to the podcast. That means you have to manually search each time. That's pretty lame imo. I was really looking forward to this feature too :(

What is the use of the updates if it doesnt address the issues.

Well they may be issues to you but when I bought the iPhone i was not expecting it to have or get anything other then what it was said as having. As such i have no real issues with my phone.

Street view and over the air podcast downloads are two features I am going to use a lot.

+
Stability. performance boost, bug fixes

-
Cut&Paste, background push, camera options/etc, multimedia mail, landscape mode for typing email.

Conclusion: Most of the stuff added are relatively useless. How about something functional and practical.

Not so happy...

So, no MMS or copy and paste or video recording... Still, are you happy with the features from the 2.2 update?

I wonder if Apple is going to address the actual missing features instead of minor facelift and somewhat useless new features??? Streetview??? Gimme a break! Ooo, that one I'll use every day..... Seriously Apple, you're not going to keep people happy with this. Simple missing stuff like copy/paste, MMS or video recording have made headlines in mainstream press, wouldn't it be time to fix this shame?

Didn't vote because i've learnt not to expect much from Apple. I wasn't expecting much pre/post update...hence i'm neither happy nor sad...more like apathy. I just updated the phone and continued with my life

Oh noes!

Safari just froze up my phone, I had to hold down the home and power buttons to turn it off.

nothing amazing at all about it. it was always available via google maps online (desktop version).

ya online but on my iphone........?????? it is much more convenient and faster than going online with the iphone

ya diggggg

Safari stability seems to be greatly improved with this update. Been using safari all day and so far not a single crash. Still too early to say..but I would have had multiple crashes by now with 2.1...
