I had a white one since launch day and returned it two nights ago. dedicated pocket, placed on soft/softer surfaces, and it still managed to get some nicks and scratches around the bezel...I counted 1 scratch and about 4-5 nicks.

back aluminum was fine though

Did you exchange it for a black one, or just returned the iPhone 5 for good because of the scratches around the bezel?

I tried just doing an exchange w/ apple customer support. after reading many who were successful in A) swapping colors and B) receiving a replacement before having to send back the original, I gave that a shot and failed. Long story short, 5 phone calls with different reps and managers gave me conflicting stories, so I got fed up and returned for a full refund.

ultimately wanted black after all (scuff or no scuff) so I returned it in order to have a shot at doing the 10pm reservation.

I still have my Black iphone 5 and so far so good. There is a sliiiight scratch on one of the corners, but the light has to hit it just right for it to be see

Just got my Iphone 5 black 32gb. It is absolutely perfect except for a miniscule scuff near one of the bands. You need to look extremely closely and have the light just right to see it, so I am keeping this one. Black looks SOOOO much nicer than white does!

Got my black iP5 during the 10:00 pm reservation lottery - it was manufactured week 39, very recently, still flawless after a week of using it (am very careful though it's totally naked when in use).

Great as usual. Have never used cases on any of my iphones/ipads. I go rawdog with all my Apple products, no point in covering the aesthetics up with a goofy case, even if the risk of damage goes up. Just be careful.

Im doing a better job keeping my iphone pristine than Foxconn!

All joking aside its still in good shape after taking my Otterbox due to sheer bulk.

Mine is still unscarred, purchased on launch day. With that being said, I couldn't stand being so careful with it anymore so I broke down and bought a full body Wrapsol for it.

Got a crappy Belkin case when I got my phone from the EE shop... not nice though, totally detracts from the phone... Think I'm going to get something else...

Had protectors on mine but took them off and now riding bare back. The natural feel is amazing.

Will see how it goes in terms of consequences.

White one in a dedicated pocket for 2 days now. Has one good sized scratch and nick on the back with a couple really small nicks. Don't know how those happened when I've been treating it like a newborn. Guess it's going in a case.

White 32GB in a rocketfish super slim case since day 1. No scratches. No Scuffs.

Honestly even with these new slim cases the phone is still super light. Naked is just not necessary.

Mine has been naked since I got it on the 21st. Not a mark on it. I am careful though. The main precaution is keeping an empty pocket for it or one with only paper or tissue in.

Got a white one and have kept it naked since I got it less than a week and no a single mark. Keepin mine naked for awhile. What's the point in having one of the thinnest phones in the world if I'm gonna cover it up with a case?

The aluminum back does make me a little nervous, but if it get super scratched up, oh well.

Still good for my phone. Managed to throw my keys in that pocket once or twice too. No scuffs or visible scratches.

Any of you guys using screen protectors? Which one should I get?

Please do. Are you using any screen protectors though?

No screen protectors.

Every time I think about expensive & useless iPhone cases and protectors (that will make my sexy beast ugly), I go to my favorite restaurants and order my favorite delicious dishes that have been cooked using gluten-free and natural & fresh ingredients. Hehe Lol
