February 7, 2011 so it's been awhile. Had just picked up an iPhone 4 and wanted to get info about it. I had some friends and colleagues encouraging me to switch to Mac which I eventually did.

Ah, iPhone 4... That's the time when I was getting a lot of FaceTime calls from random numbers, which were all from my friends trying out FaceTime at an  store 😀

2002.

I kept running into this place when researching potential replacements for my (then dying) Pismo, in late 2003. Ended up with a 12" iBook G4.

After that I was lurking around the forums for a while, before registering in March 2004.

Some 19 years or so. I'm still around, though I lurk quite a bit more than I post these days. Definitely the longest I've ever been involved in an online forum, I was just 13 when I joined.

I first visited around 2005/6, not long after I’d picked up a Titanium G3 Laptop from a colleague.
It was very USA centric, and not long after, MacTalk Australia appeared, run by Decryption, and met my needs for around 3 years, before it was sold.
I came back, but it wasn’t until 2010 that I signed up, to actually ask something.

Sixteen years ago for me.

I used to get more upset at the trolls and the negativity. Happily, some years ago, a user shared that posting or reacting here at MR is much like voting. You share your opinion and then let that be that. It's helped me not to get too riled up.

I'm still not sure why I "hang out" here so much. I do appreciate my Apple products, and it's generally interesting to hear what's going on in the Apple sphere of influence. I think that perhaps it's been a "safe harbor" of news in a sense, compared to all the more volatile things happening in the world right now. I'm glad when I find decent folks here.

Just spent probably 3 hrs of my today, trawling through posts and threads back in the 'noughties', using search terms relevant to me, and also wading through the thousands of members back then. Subsequently, I've edited this post, to reflect me joining in 2010.

March of 2022, according to my account creation date. Though I've been reading for much longer. I had no real reason to join, I just thought since I'd been reading all this time I may as well. Glad I did!

Four months ago. Though I lost the newbie moniker here, I am one. I bought my first Mac July of last year. I had zero experience beforehand but was I done with Windows, saw the MicroCenter deal for the M4 Mac mini and I was off to the races. I'm a fast learner, and I've converted my wife as well. She uses the mini now and I bought a 14" MBP M4 Pro last September.

It seems like I(we) entered the ecosystem at a good time in Apple's history. The hardware has never been more powerful and affordable and the software is...a...well...ahh, anyway the hardware is top shelf.

Kidding, though Tahoe has had it's growing pains it runs without notable bugs or issues on both machines. Now 8 months switched over there's no chance of going back to Windows. Hell, I knew that after the first 2 weeks.
