- iBook G3 700MHz (sold in 2002)
- Cube 450MHz (bought and sold in the fall of 2005)

And if you count "owned by my employer":
- iMac 17" Core Duo 1.83GHz (for testing stuff mostly)

I'll buy a MacBook or MacBook Pro this month or the next to replace my 2 year old Sony laptop (too bad it has to go, but I need more memory, more hd space and more cpu power).

My list:

LC 575
MacBook 1.83/2GB

If you count machines that my father has owned over the years, you could also include (in order of acquisition):

IIci
Classic II
LC 475
G3/266
iMac (rev A)
512KE
Dual G4/867
G5/1.6 (rev A)

My main machine from 2000 to 2006 was a PC (800MHz Athlon). Guess I've been out in the wilderness for a while :D

I started with a IIci for home and a IIsi for work, and ended my first stage of Mac ownership with an AV Powermac (7100 I think) before my Switch to Windows - that was ten years ago. Last year I bought a Mini which went missing when I moved, and earlier this year I bought another Mini, this time an Intel one.

Since then I have gone on a Mac binge with three iMacs, two Macbooks and a MBP dotted around various different places but unfortunately I'm extremely unhappy with the hardware right now.

It's occured to me that I only had one faulty Mac in my first stage of ownership (a Duo which was very problematic). In my current stage of ownership, every single Mac bar the Mini has had something wrong with it, or turned up DOA. Certain rather important things were perhaps better under the Sculley/Amelio days...?

LC - Loved this machine. Would be still working if the monitor and ADB ports didn't take such a beating from being plugged in and out every day.
Performa 6300 - With TV tuner/digitiser/remote control.
G3/233 - Speeeeedy!
G3/350 - Still used as a DHCP server and occasion email.
iMac G4 - In perfect nick, apart from someone smashing the screen
PMac G5 - Nice, but too big for my room.
MBP 1.8 - My first portable, love it!

Wow, I'd like to know how much money you've spent on all your systems. I guess you need it since your name is "moviecutter". Which ones do you still own?

A Lot !

I was fed up with windows crashing about 3 years ago when I saw how cute the ibooks (g3 white) looked. The don't crash, they don't get viruses, spyware, etc was what I read about macs. I then had to have one and bought a used one from ebay - I was sold. Not only that, my boyfriend had quickly changed his mind from 'oh, they're girl's machines' to 'hmm, they do seem to work well'. And then the quest for our dream macs started.

I bought My ibook g3 700,
Needed a desktop, so I bought a G4 1.25 eMac ..... bf bought one 2 weeks later.
Needed a more power laptop, so I bought a powerbook g4 1.33
Needed a more powerful desktop, so sold my eMac, and bought an iMac g5 17" 1.8.
BF fancied a G5, so he had my iMac, and I bought Powermac G5 single 1.8 and cinema display.
Bf then sold his iMac G5 and had my Powermac G5, I bought a Powermac G5 dual 1.8
Sold ibook g3 now unwanted.
BF's daughter wanted a laptop, so bought her an iBook G4
Liked the look of a £150 toilet seat ibook (don't know why). it lasted for 2 weeks.
My best friend had wanted a mac for ages, so she bought my dual g5 and I bought a Macmini core duo to use with my cinema display.
Sold powerbook G4 and bought macbook coreduo 2 ghz
BF loved the mini, so he had mine, and then finally found the machine I will keep ..... a Powermac G5 quad. We are now happy :)

Well, I'm shipping out my 17" MBP tomorrow to its new owner, and I have a buyer for the 20" iMac, so if Apple doesn't come out with something on Monday, I might be darn near screwed. Then again, I got a pretty significant discount for almost all of those...

I just keep two on hand at a time, a top end desktop and a top end laptop. I don't need any more than that, except maybe a Mac Mini for a media center for my HDTV.

I have only ever owned one Mac: 12" PowerBook G4 867 MHz 640 MB 60GB HDD

I would willingly buy another but running Tiger on this machine I find that there is no reason to upgrade. Sure I'd like USB2 and for the machine to be a little faster at start up, but not enough to need to buy a new one. Besides I have had it so long now and we have been through so much together I would feel guilty replacing it for a newer model.
