I get 10-13 driving back and forth to school and to the stores (couple miles a trip). Went a couple longer distance places this time and got 16mpg. On an all highway trip I can get 22-25 at a steady speed of 65-70.

And one more VW driver.

2000 VW Passat 1.8t log book average 32mpg (35 highway trips)
This car also Dynoed 231 WHP (wheel horse power) with my my modifications :). The other good thing it has is a .27 Coefficient of drag, and low frontal area :) .

1990 VW Jetta 1.8 8v log book average 31mpg (36mpg highway trips)
Not stock either, but nothing other than bolt ons, and a cam.

1981 VW Scirocco S while commuting Logged 37mpg (43mpg highway)
Bone stock unleaded fuel injected 1.7L engine (TDI conversion on the way ;) )

in city driving, i average 22 miles per gallon. but most of my driving is highway, and my last few tanks of gas have come in at around 26 mpg. i drive a honda s2000.

I love my 1.8T '03 Jetta.
30-34mpg, even in town.. and I drive aggressively.
I expected a mileage hit when downgrading fuel (couldn't afford premium fuels when it was >$3/gallon here), but still get 30-ish mpg with 87octane (was running 89 previously).
Ahhh.. octane wars. A topic for a different discussion.

Yes I should have mentioned that the Passat runs only 92 octane.

The 1.8t is definitely an octane aware engine, you will get more power, and better fuel economy with higher octane on these machines (which I see you already know) . It is nice that the car manages it's own airflow and pressure too ;) .

Usually getting 40+mpg.

'96 Ford Fiesta 1.25 16v Zetec-S engine.

I've only ever got below 40mpg actually, and that was just a week or two where I kept booting it!

i agree - i would never put lower than 89 into my 1.8t. it definitely runs a little better on 91/93, but i do not feel like paying the jump (which can be up to a $0.25/gallon difference.)

Where is the option for less than 10? Not that it applies to me, but I know peolpe with those new Ford F Series Super Duty Trucks, and they, on a bad tank, can get as little as 5 per gallon.

Let's see.
When I had my Goodyear tires, I would average 40-42 MPG around town. On the highway, 44-45 MPG.

With the new tires, and an alignment, I'm lucky to get 34-36 around town, and 40-43 highway.

What a bummer

The car? 1994 Mercury Tracer trio. 1.9 liter, 5 speed.

I average 15, hwy and city in my Chevy s -10. I couldn't believe it, the sticker says 23 hwy but then it is a V6 Vortec engine. And I have a lead foot.

'95 Toyota Tercel

i drive a decent mix of street and highway so thats pretty even and i typically get right around 30mpg

I average about 19.5mpg. Toyota 4Runner 07 (V6). I do about 50/50 highway/regular road driving.

Same car, but I get between 33-37 miles (36 mpg when I filled up today). Must be because it's mostly highway driving.

Slightly better than 21 in the city, around 26-28 on the highway in a 2000 Mustang V6 5-speed. I tend to get a little higher than what the sticker said seeing as how I don't drive like a maniac and baby it when it comes to maintenance.

Usually we take the GF's car whenever we go somewhere in town as her 2002 Civic gets much better mileage. Consequently I've only got about 42k miles on mine.
