I don't own a car. :D

Since you don't use any gasoline (0 gallons), yet move from here to there, you're dividing by 0 in calculating mi/gal. Math doesn't like it when you divide by 0, but I guess the environment does...

I get about 25mpg from my 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. In the winter though it can go down to 20 - the thing gulps when it's trying to warm up. I do get about 30-33 on the highway though.

Interesting. I just bought a car (SUV) - a 2006 Toyota Rav4. My wife HAD to have an SUV - personally, I don't like them, but with kids, travel, etc we do need the space. So my only restriction was that the auto had to get the same or better gas mileage than an ordinary car. Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRV both met these requirements. I preferred the RAV4 so.. there you have it. We get about 25mpg combination highway and local - about that anyway. It's supposed to be 24/30. I wish I could have had the prius, but alas!

I think it is criminal how low mpg's are in the US. Dodge, in particular, should be fined.

Anyway, I don't get the 'bash SUV's argument. Many of them get the same mpg as many cars...

thanks for the link! that has inspired me to try to drive even better!

Me too! I was messing around trying out some of the things they did. I think I will do it for a week (starting next fill up), just to see how much improvement I get.

This is an offshoot of this thread.

Seems that alot of the discussion leans towards greedy consumerism, and low MPG SUVs.

So, I ask, how many MPG does your vehicle(s) get?

There's no 50 mpg and up option. :(

Prius user checking in. I used to average about 52 or (65 high), but since moving to "the city" it has dropped quite a bit. I went from driving an hour to an hour and a half each way to work to driving 4 -5 minutes each way to work (stupid lights!). Mileage drastically dropped. I have the numbers written down, I need to do the calculations, bu tI imagine I am averaging around 40 mpg now. So sad.

:)

 LOL! :D Any reason why? Or were you just being facetious?

I do. :)

I get around 52 mpg out of my 2.0 litre VW Golf TDI. Last time around, I got around 550 miles from my last tank of fuel. Unless my maths is particularly bad, that's the mid-40s in US gallons.

I'm quite pleased with the fuel consumption - it's a pretty heavy car - around 1500kg so (unladen weight), and it's an automatic.

yeah, i'm starting to try it also. i have a scangauge in my truck, so it tells me real-time MPG.....i got 30.5 on my last trip (about 50 miles)....pretty good for a truck
