While I'll be honest, I am tempted, I think I'll hold off. My current laptop is only a year old and it doesn't make sense to drop so much $$ right before Christmas.

Additionally, I'm rocking with a Thinkpad, for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I'm more productive with windows. The apps and services I need to support work better with windows. While the Mac offers its own set of advantages, I'm not sure I want to be on the bleeding edge.

While Apple has gone back to the scissors based keyboard, its a refined/updated version I may want to see how that shakes out

It is tempting. Had I not just bought a used 12.9" iPad Pro last week then I probably would be ordering. I'm going to try to get by with just the iPad and my hackintosh desktop for awhile.

But honestly, I'll probably stop by an Apple store later this week and play around with one. If I am impressed enough then I'll probably walk out with it, ha.

No. Possibly a refurb depending what happens in the 13/14 space though.
It does look good, I'm happy for those who are picking one up. I hope Apple has hit it out of the park this time.

No since my rMBP is still working just fine. Love the specs you chose though. If I had the cash, or justification, that's the configuration I would choose.

I'm currently waiting for the GPU reviews so I can decide which one I'll take from my configuration.

To rich for my blood with the way they handle trade in value. Plus the device is missing quite a bit for me to put down 2k on. A tad over priced for what it is. But I can see why some people are excited to get a new unit, my stuff isn't exactly "old" so I've got a while before I actually need new hardware.

im waiting for the 14inch, thats the one i really need to update, i mitigated most of annoyance on my 2018 15inch at work by using external keyboard

I'm good with my 2018 15" MB Pro. They swapped out the keyboard for a 4th gen due to hardware failure (that was a weird one), and I am not heavy into content creation, so yeah....I'm good with mine for several years.

I am tempted but don't want to be at the bleeding edge after my issues with the keyboard on the previous model, aside from that, the more I look at it, just too big for my needs. I am impressed with it though.

If it is the magic keyboard in the sense of the tradition external keyboard, which it appears to be, I would be more confident it will be far better.

Don't know, there is an impulse purchase in me, but I will think it over, all that is holding me back from giving it a go is the overall size.

You guys are paying for a keyboard you should be getting for free and a screen that is marginally larger. I mean I get it, gear-hype. I have fallen to it before.

When does everyone think Amazon or Best Buy will have it available?
Apple Store on the 25th according to the website. I suspect the others then as well. Ordered mine and it should get here around the 21st if I'm lucky.

Wouldn't it be more prudent to sit back and wait 2, 3, or 4 months to see how these "play out" in the field?
To see if the new keyboard doesn't have any problems of its own?
To see if there are any other glitches with the early production?

I never figured out the "first day on the market, have to have it right now!" mentality.

Have one in cart but no in store pick up yet. If I pick up in store I save about $200 so I guess I'll wait for that option of show...

That's the unknown, while Apple did return back to the scissors mechanism for the keyboard, its been updated to handle the thin enclosure - its not the same keyboard as their other magic keyboard.

Bleeding edge? Maybe

I have the May-2019 MBP and was not going to order the new one, but just discovered that the best price on appleinsider.com for my particular model is actually $100 more than for the NEW one (won't last long, I know). So I just bought the new one in hopes of selling my May-2019 model before the price decreases much and the warranty runs out. One has to think about resale now vs. in 2020.

1mm key travel surface laptop 3 has it also on scissors mechanism and its lovely type experience...i think second to your laptop Lenovo X1 since X1 Xtreme has 1.6mm so, physics cannot be tricked
