my 2014’s battery is failing left and right. I’m just pulling the trigger as soon as I get a chance to make the order through work. I almost did the same back in May, but the continued butterfly keyboard gave me pause, then rumors showed up that this 16” machine might be ready soon. I’m done waiting. I’d feel better if some more thorough reviews were out there, but honestly, it probably won’t change my decision anyway. So here goes... I guess

That's the unknown, while Apple did return back to the scissors mechanism for the keyboard, its been updated to handle the thin enclosure - its not the same keyboard as their other magic keyboard.

Bleeding edge? Maybe
I wonder if they fixed the kernel panics in this new machine.

Ordered 2.3 i9 / 32gb / 1tb / 5500 8gb . I'm coming from a 13" 2015, and the lack of additional cores is really starting to stress my work with virtual machines and I miss larger screens. Everything else is just gravy to me.

Ordered 2.3 i9 / 16GB / 1TB / 5500 8GB from Expercom for $2691 (no sales tax).

32gb of RAM would've been nice, but the upgrade prices aren't worth it for me. I find most of the big applications I run will definitely chew up the extra RAM if you've got it, but they can be very efficient with a lot less if you don't. 16GB is more than enough. I have an iMac with 64GB if I need it.

Very likely will buy it today. Looking at 8core, 32GB, 2TB and 5500M w/8GB. I am currently on a 2014 MBP which will be relegated to my kids', general purpose computer.

I'm going for the same config. I often get the "middle tier" processor and I would like the best graphics and a RAM upgrade from what I have now. I could see getting 2 TB SSD but right now I'm using a little more than 500 GB and that includes all the classical CDs I own (hundreds) ripped to lossless files. I just don't think I need more than 1 TB.

And I'm in college so I will get the education discount :)

I hear people talking about in store availability this week but everyone is getting 26th-28th shipping times, am I missing something?

I am very close to ordering but just want to wait on some reviews. Very happy with the reports of the new keyboard and the fact I can order the highest-end GPU option on an i7.

My only real struggle is 16GB vs 32GB. I don't see myself doing much video editing or rendering or even 4k Photoshop work on the laptop, my only pause is thinking about running Windows 10 programs in VM. Will do some gaming on this device in Bootcamp. Just can't justify the huge cost increase to 32GB.

Would much rather spend that on a 2TB SSD in order to run Windows 10 in bootcamp and have good-sized partitions.

Other thing I'm waiting for reviews to learn is the thermal performance of the i7 vs the i9. It's a minor price difference but if the i7 has better battery life and heat management for relatively minimal performance hits, I'll probably go with:

i7, 16GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 5500M 8GB

I ordered mine as soon as it went up for sale! I am sick and tired of this butterfly keyboard.

The preconfigured versions should be available at stores on Friday.

did you guys order the silver or the space gray? is space gray the same color as the macMini/iMacPro?

Anybody waiting for the holiday return policy? I kind of feel like it's worth waiting for that to be able to test out the laptop for longer and see if any issues arise. Seems like the previous policies started on teh purchase date (not the delivery date), so I'm holding off for that.

I am waiting for the holiday return period.

Ever since I ordered the 2018 Vega MBP and it had screen flickering issues, I'm not taking any chances.
