How many others are ordering the 16 MBP today!

I ordered one. The nice thing about Apple is that you can return them. And I can try to make my employer to pay for it anyway ;)

I am my employer, so my employer is paying for mine!:) Also, need some additional deductible expenses to reduce the tax bill.

Probably. The butterfly keyboard has been driving me nuts since the first MacBook 12. I am likely to buy the new MBP and trade it in for a 13 whenever that is released with the new keyboard. I don't need all this screen size or power. But I do need to love or at least like my keyboard. I am a writer.

While I'll be honest, I am tempted, I think I'll hold off. My current laptop is only a year old and it doesn't make sense to drop so much $$ right before Christmas.

Additionally, I'm rocking with a Thinkpad, for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I'm more productive with windows. The apps and services I need to support work better with windows. While the Mac offers its own set of advantages, I'm not sure I want to be on the bleeding edge.

While Apple has gone back to the scissors based keyboard, its a refined/updated version I may want to see how that shakes out
I love my Lenovo!

Luckily I'm not in immediate need of a new computer, my 2015 is still going strong, just too tight on storage space now. I want to wait it out to WWDC, let it bed in, see if there's a 15" Air or how I might feel about a 14" Pro before just dropping the cash on this, even though I'm a lot happier about it than I was previously. Having said that, if in the intervening months there's any deals knocking £1-200 off I'm probably inevitably going to end up going for it xD

I did. And I apologize to all those who I told they wouldn’t announce this without an event. So glad they did and hope that this is a worthy update to my 2015.

I'm planning to, but I'm waiting hopefully just a day or two for holiday returns to kick in. Since we would be beta-testers to some degree, I want to take advantage of the 6/7-week return window. Especially since the policy usually kicks in mid-November.

I do a lot of my main work on Windows 10. But on a desktop with 2 monitors, 32GB of memory, 2 TB of NVME drive. After 20 years of using Windows and Office everything just feels natural. Plus the only good keyboard for me is one with Cherry MX switches, and the only mouse is a big old Logitech MX 2s.

But for travel and working remote the MBP works fine.

So like my investments, I like both MSFT and AAPL. :)

Yesterday I literally just picked up my i9/16/512/Vega 20 refurb for $2,679

I’m exchanging it for this:

Not bad for an extra $10

How did you get in store pick up? I looked earlier and shipping only and I just looked again and it's still the same...

I am waiting for in store pickup as I'll save $200 in sales tax...

Edit: Disregard I figured it out.. BTO offers in store for me of Dec 2 but I am looking at the base 16" and no dice on it..

Not interested at all, especially at that price.

???

Prices stayed the same...

Trading in 2017 MacBook Pro for this new one!

8 core 2.4ghz
32gb memory
2TB SSD
5500M 8GB

I was seeing the 2017 mbp going for 1600 or so on eBay. Minus eBay fee and PayPal fee it’s about a $200 convenience fee so I went for the trade in.

I ordered a new MBP on Nov 2nd and did in-store pickup on Nov 3rd. I should be good to go with a in-store return this Friday on the 15th? I will have to repurchase another time since I'm not counting on my config being available in store this time (32gb ram, 1tb storage, maxed video).

It won’t be delivered to the Apple store until the 27th... I live in Pennsylvania but I’m picking it up in Delaware... no sales tax😬

Discipline for me here is key.
I always go for a good sale or a refurb price.

Always

In short order, it is going to get heavy on eBay with butterfly keyboard models..

(For anyone who wants to purchase a problem - no thx)

Not really. Need to see reviews. Plus Catalina which I don’t want right now. It’s good to see the direction they’re going though.

I have thought about it, learning a lesson from being a day 1 impulse buyer of the 2016 MBP I am not doing it again. Whether I buy today or next month, makes no difference to me right now.

I have done my bit for the Apple Guinea Pig program, now it's for others to do it whilst I watch and determine whether as a result, I want to buy.
