Strange... my S7 Edge has been pretty good on batteries... just as good as my 6 plus. I think I'm a pretty high usage user... I've used close to 1.1gb of data today... and my S7E has been off the charger since 6:00am this morning. After over 9 hours of usage, I'm still have over 50% battery left. The lowest it's gone is 20% before putting it back the charger around 11:30pm. If I were a light user, I'm sure I could go a couple days before putting it on the charger. Not questioning you... if you say you have poor batteries... no reason why I shouldn't believe you. Just not matching the experience I have on my S7 Edge. As I mentioned in other posts... I like both platforms... I still use my 6 plus daily and like it just as much... well... let me take that back... I like it just as much when jailbroken... LOL. :)

Yea I use my S7E the same as I did my 6s Plus. My Edge drains twice as fast. And I even have bluetooth/wi-fi etc turned off. I constantly close stuff out and try to limit whats running. Ive also turned off the background data for many apps. It STILL drains so fast and I have to constantly charge it.

Same here... I use my S7 Edge same as my 6 plus. Average +40gb of data per month... and I get similar battery efficiency between the 2 phones. My S7 Edge last the whole day from as early as 6am to 11:30pm... with power to spare before putting it on my wireless charger. I don't have fast charging turned on since it's never fully drained. I never have wifi turned on for both my S7 Edge or 6 plus. If my S7 Edge drained twice as fast as my 6 plus, I would consider the iPhone 7 also. But right now... it's been treating me as good as my 6 plus. Looking forward to the 2017 iPhone.

I rarely use iMessage anymore. Instead in using Messenger, so it's free and cross platform. So it's not that holding me back.

I've also been intrigued with the thought of changing to Android, but I just - after having the 1+3 for a few weeks - think that apps and the platform as a whole on Android is subpar with the experience on iOS. It's just not as nice and "embedded" as iOS.

I think the issue I have with my edge is how much it drains in standby. When I'm using it battery drain is comparable to my 6S plus. Standby battery drain is terrible. The other day it drained 15 % in 4 hours.

I want to switch to Android, but all my friends use iPhone. So I need to stay within the ecosystem, because I don't know if they have a text messaging plan.

I know people who have spent thousands in the App Store and iTunes and so they don't want to switch either.

Are you in that situation? Please explain.

Why do you want to switch to Android ? Is there a particular features(s) you're after ? Or just for sake of change ?

Like others, I've looked outside of Apple's eco system to subjectively compare what I might want, especially since Apple of late hasn't gone the direction I've been accustomed to, both in hard- and software design.

My investments in the App store are minimal, mostly free apps, but iTunes is up in the thousands.
However, iTunes Music will migrate easily and with some effort, other media also.

The main reason for sticking with Apple is security. Tim Cook reiterated this stance recently when the FBI was putting pressure on Apple to hand over the holy grail.

The 2nd reason is a split between usability & habit. I've been using Macs since a year after their inception. Professionally I've had to work with every imaginable OS out there and have the mental scars to show for. Despite misgivings along the way, I still prefer Mac OS X platform. Not sure I will stay with iOS down the road. It seems to be getting increasingly convoluted. Unlike Macs, iDevices cannot be rolled back to run older versions and that's a bigger negative for me than the lack of storage upgrades.

I'm just bored of iPhone. I want new and exciting features like removing un wanted objects from a picture, playing a video while doing other tasks (picture in picture), true multi tasking, and more

Will i use those extra features? Not sure, but I'd like to have it so I can find out.

And on the flip side, the Galaxy/Note series can use the fingerprint sensor to remember passwords on the web browser, whereas the iPhone cannot. Let's not look for nitpicky examples as it is going to drive the conversation nowhere.

If you use keychain, Safari auto fills passwords for you.

The issue lies when you give your device to someone, such as a friend, or family member. Of course you'd hope not know anyone diabolical who would snoop into your accounts, but with the fingerprint password storage, that small chance becomes a non-issue.

Also, the Chrome browser also has the same keychain functionality on iOS/Android FWIW.

The reason I couldn't stay with Android is that hardware makers find one way or another to cheap out on the hardware. Sure, they add the fastest processors, waterproofing and the best screens. But they pair that with atrociously slow storage. Terrible digitisers with 5 times the touch latency of an iPhone. Stuff like that completely kills the experience.

Not to mention Google just can't seem to fix the random battery drain issues plaguing the OS. The iPhone might not have the same battery life but at least it's consistent. If I leave home at 100%, I always down to 55% plus or minus 5%. With the S7E, on some days it was 70%, other days 25%, for seemingly no reason.
I agree here! I was looking to possibly get a Nexus 6p and I was reading tons of reviews of it and the OnePlus 3 and the 6s Plus. The one thing I gathered from all the reviews was that the 6s Plus was the BEST. It had the best performance, some of the best battery life (best real world and standby times on the market), an excellent camera, fastest storage module, fast Touch ID sensor, excellent build, great display (not the best but extremely good all around), and no matter what they threw at it, it was a phenomenal all around phone.

Looking at the other phones, there's always a compromise. The OnePlus 3 has a terrible camera for video recording and the 6 GB of RAM isn't even fully usable, combined with the fact that the display is a Pentile Matrix AMOLED and not the newer Samsung level panels. The 6p has slow storage along with the Snapdragon 810 and mediocre battery life for its 3450 mAh pack.

I love Android as much as the next tech geek and I've used Android a lot, but I stick with iOS because of how high-quality their products are. They put the best components into their products, inside and out, and it gives me confidence in the product.

Im really eyeing the Note 7 in all black but I'm very invested into the apple ecosystem so it would be a real pain to switch. Most everyone I know is running an iPhone so iMessage is great.

I would disagree. Overall Android is less secure and Apple's platform beats Android even with Android being open source. There's a new vulnerability that affects the Blackphone.

Apple's strength in security is being able to push security updates quickly. With Android, you may never get an update.

That's what I like about the iPhone. It has consistent battery life for the life of the phone without having to do crazy tweaks. I don't care about battery size, I care about battery life and consistency.
Consistency is probably one of the most important things to me in a phone. Sure, my Nexus 6 could go some days and beat my iPhone 6 (barely) in terms of battery life and screen on time, others I'd need a charger by 5 PM. Reliability, consistency, and cohesiveness are big factors in what tech I purchase.

I have been using the s7 edge now for a week after having sold my 6s+ waiting for the i7. I really wanted to like this and was bummed I couldn't get the note 7 in time. The note 7 I played around for a few minutes and was a big leap compared to the s7 edge but android may be great but samsung and rom they force you to use is crap. If I could get a note 7 with vanilla android I would be more inclined but I also have an apple watch, macbook, iPad, apple tv, and multiples of each and having apple products is just so seamless and intuitive. Customer service with apple is just the best period.

I had a lightening cable I got from my nephew that was falling apart I went to the apple store and they swapped it out no problem. When my iPhone 6 was shipped to the wrong address they sent my wife and I free leather cases. They really do make a good product which may be behind compared to some others but its so polished and reliable you don't mind. The customer service and seamless integration across the board not to mention the greater app support like games and amazon instant video just make it worth while. I can't wait to get the iPhone 7.
