Around 50-60 at once but with small brakes in between i can go on for a very long time.

Apparently, I can do 56.

I looked at the 100 Pushups webpage, but I don't know what you guys mean when you say "wide pushups". How wide is "wide"???

I think mine look wider than the ones in the photos of that 100 Pushup website, but not by much. When I'm lying on the ground with my arms in position to do pushups, my arms are angled away from my body so that they form a 90 degree angle with my torso (i.e. from birds-eye view, I'd look like a "T" with a head), while the bend at my elbows is also around 90 degrees.

To me at least, a normal push up is where, once laying down, you position your hands so the tips of your thumbs touch your shoulders. A wide push up, is where your hands are positioned where your elbows are when you're lying down with your arms out to your side.

I always fail after the third week. It is quite annoying.

Rest two days at a time instead of one. Keep redoing the failure day.

What surprised me about that program was that after doing it I was doing bench reps way higher than I though. I don't ever go to the gym and I am skinny. People were surprised as was I. The first couple of weeks I felt a huge strain and change in core strength. I was sore all over. It helped my lower back a lot and I've ruptured two discs.

I find the iPhone app very very helpful fr the buck it costs.

Anyway. If I can do it anyone can. But rest days are very important.

I tried this program about 1.5 years ago:

http://hundredpushups.com/what.html

I didn't finish, but I hit about 70 before I gave up.

I'm trying again now, but I'm only on week one.

I might try this.

When I was in high school I could do a ton since I was in marching band and we did a ton (plus that sort of upper body strength was required).

edit: thanks for making me feel old when I think about how many years ago that was! :)

I find no point in doing more than 20 pushups at a time.
If that happens, you must add weight. Unless, of course, you only care about tone.

I used to add 10-20kg. But honestly, nothing can beat a bench press for me.

I've held off on the iPhone app because I remember reading something about how the info on it didn't always match the info on the website. Have you noticed any discrepancies?

4. After that I get a brain-freeze.

About 20, any more and I'll most likely collapse on my face :D

I really need to get healthier :(

I was waiting for your knee-jerk reaction - I'm glad it didn't take long.

It wasn't knee jerk. I put a great amount of time and thought into that special post.

But you were actually waiting specifically for my reaction? Awww, that's swell.

/I did 17 pushups while writing this post

Around 20 at the most, I have no upper body strength

I guess that's what I get for avoiding weight lifting like the plague. Jogging is so much more fun.
