what, so where u live anyone can join the police force as long as theyr not pissed out of their minds when they apply?
No, I think the original comment was about Police Academy candidates, and the responder thought it was about someone being stopped by police.

I haven't done pushups in probably a year. I rep 235 on bench press tho. I'd be comfortable saying I could do 60-70 before I'd get too tired. More likely to get bored first.

That's about right if your body weight is around 185-200.

I used to be able to do 100 in a minute but only 50 now. I need to get back in shape.

Just a simple attempt at humour brought about by the phrasing of breakguy's post...
Anyone got an animation of someone falling flat on their face?

I can only do 4 regular ones, so I'm trying the 100 pushups program on 'modified' and once I do 100 of those, I'll start doing the full program. I'll be on day 2 tomorrow...

i really hate push-ups.

when i was active military, my best in the two minute test was 86. don't know if i could have done more even without the time limit. long skinny arms and push-ups don't mix well...

had a roommate that was a short, strong, 'born to be a gymnast' kinda guy and i remember him doing one push-up per second for 3 minutes. after 180 he got bored and quit, i have no idea how many more, but bet he could complete 300 or more without much trouble. hated that. only good thing was i could do more sit-ups than he could. :)

Wouldn't that apply to pushups, too?

i always thought so, but it's a function of leverage. get scale readings on the short/strong roommate at the hand position, and then on the long skinny arm me at the hand position while doing push-ups and it's much less different than you would imagine.

and push-ups still really, REALLY, suck. ;)

I'm doing that program at the moment. I'm about to start week 3 and can already do 50 push ups.

My record APFT was 101 in under two minutes. Full up and down, Army PT standard.

With breaks (bending knees, shifting weight and maintaining only four points of contact) I could break 200. Full up, full down (break the shoulder plane with the elbows).

Not hard to get there if you work on it.

Well, I'm doing it modified, my 3rd day and I could do 31 to exhaustion on the last set.

Once I can do 100 in one go, I reckon I'll be able to start the program properly :)

Back during high school, I do 100 when I wake up, and 100 before sleeping, all under one minute. Now I'm in college and did some serious weight training, I lost that muscle endurance for hypertrophy. Now I can only do 75 before my arms burn.

Are these full up and down pushups?

In the Army, I knew a lot of guys who could top 100 in TWO minutes, full up and down. I've never seen anyone who could do 100 pushups in under ONE minute. Not complete pushups.

I can do about 90 now, but I don't do them very often anymore as I'm more focused on heavier pushing movements. That and I don't need to do a trillion of them for fitness assessments.

Not full ups and downs, more like the "sprint push-ups", if 1-10 was the range of motion, it is set around 3-8.

Had a test today and I could do 81 modified push ups. Definitely an improvement! Of course, once this is over I'll go onto full push ups, I may try a few before my next training set, to see if I'm any closer to being able to do them...
