I record a mean of 2.11, with a standard deviation of 1.05. If you understand what that means, you are a crappy statistician....
Generally speaking: Pooping less than once per day is indicative of some sort of problem. The longer material hangs around the GI tract, the drier and harder it becomes, which can cause all sort of problems on the way out: hemorrhoids, tearing, straining, etc.
On the other hand, much more than three times a day is indicative of a problem too: a chronic upset stomach or other problem. Too much coffee - or too much alcohol the night before - can also irritate the stomach and intestines.
Most people's bowel-moving habits are closely related to their diet (kind of a no-brainer, huh?) Try to eat three or more times per day, and partake of a diet high in vegetables and fiber. I know "carbs" are a dirty word to some people, but foods like rice, pasta, oatmeal, and potatoes can give your stool some "soft, fluffy bulk" and keep the boats moving steadily down on the alimentary canal.
