I traded my AW3 Nike+ for a $225 gift card at the Apple store. I got to keep the box with charger and band. They just wanted the body. Seemed like a good deal to me. I did a quick sold listings search on eBay and quite a few were under $200.

Apple trade in, $250 for my AW3 SS SB. Then used that credit towards my AW4 44mm Aluminum

How does work I'm fine with the trade in program price. But I've heard the company they use for this is super shady. Can you do this in store and get the credit on the spot?

$200 on OfferUp for my like new condition Series 2 Nike+ 42mm. I was surprised someone took my asking price I was prepared to sell at $150.

I only do mine in the Apple shop. They give you an Apple gift card, and then I used that towards the upgrades I did...

Got $405 for my S3 with Apple Care, a sport band and a knock off Apple link bracelet on Swappa. Sold it about 2-3 weeks before the S4 announcement.

I did the same. Sold a SS 42 S2 for $282 a couple weeks prior to the announcement. It was a “new refurb” I got after an issue I’d had. So I sold it with 3 months of AppleCare remaining. Used a S0 I’d kept until my S4 arrived.

Resale value for apple watches is atrocious - worst for SS watches which barely sell higher than their alum counterparts if in great condition. I sold my S0 SBSS in 2017 for $180. I traded the SG S3 in for $225.

Looks like they’re still offering the same quotes
Oh ok, gotcha. Yeah the trade ins - other than the Give Back - is much better. The $25 Apple was offering was basically just giving it away. The tax on the new watch was more than $25.

And this is the predicament of trying to land a 44mm SS Silver (Which is extremely hard right now), it's really nice and I do plan on keeping it for more than 2 years. Resale on them are just sad.

I also have a S1 Black Stainless Steel - resale through Apple would ALSO be $25! That's just insulting. LITTLE bit better on other sites. But still not enough for me to give it back, the watch may be slow, but it keeps time, battery is still good, watch looks darn near mint condition. I rather keep it.

Just got my email from Apple. They are crediting my Credit Card $225 for S3 and $525 for iPhone X.

$250 for 42mm SG aluminum series 3 cellular sold on Craigslist. Buyer even waited until the Saturday after release of the 4. I priced it at $275 and got a lot of offers.

Sold my S0 42mm SS for $60 CAD on Kijiji. I incl knock-off milanese loop (which was in rough shape) and charger. Turns out the guy was from out of town here on business and forgot his charger for his S1... he said he tried everywhere local and could not find a charger... so he basically bought mine for the charger LOL..

Why are these watches worth so little after one year? Especially compared to what other devices are worth after the same amount of time.

I just sold mine back to Apple. It was a much better deal than selling it to another person. I got $250 for the watch. 25$ for applecare balance. And got to keep the strap (which I would have repurchased - $50) and the charger and cable. That's about $325. No one else was willing to buy at even less that price.

I tried to sell my S3 LTE (38, aluminum) locally for $300 (including a year of AppleCare+) but in a week got only lowball offers. So I took it into my local Apple Store last night and walked out with a $225 gift card. I should be getting another $25 gift card from Apple by email in a day or two, once they process my request to cancel the AppleCare.

I’d heard horror stories about the mail-in program so I felt much more comfortable just doing it in person in the store. I was happy with that experience.

Probably because they have a much shorter expected lifespan than iPhones and iPads.

I don’t think that’s it. Remember, the watch is an accessory to the iPhone, and the Apple Watch as it stands right now, is upgraded annually, where the iPad (Pro) is not. Also, comparing the iPad to the Apple Watch, the iPad is more of a productivity/media tool, where the Apple Watch is an extension of communication and health from the iPhone. Users find different means for both products.
