How Much Would You Be Willing to Pay for an Apple Watch 'Pro'?

Idk but I hope the Stainless Steel version isn't a Hermes ultra expensive thing again.

I got a Stainless Steel black Series 5 I snagged for under $400..looks amazing. I can't go back to Aluminum. :( lol

We're just a few days away from when Apple is expected to announce the Apple Watch "Pro," an entirely new Apple Watch explicitly designed for athletes and customers who want a more robust and durable Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch "Pro" has been described as a "rugged" Apple Watch that will feature a new design, a larger display and battery, and more durable materials to make it more suitable for athletes and those who are active. Those improvements won't come without an additional cost, however, with the new model priced above most versions in the current lineup.

The new Apple Watch will likely sit at the higher end of the Apple Watch lineup, likely replacing the Apple Watch Edition as the more expensive model in the lineup. To make things easier, we've put together a quick comparison chart comparing the Apple Watch Edition and the Apple Watch "Pro" below.

Apple Watch Series 7 Edition
  • Case Material: Titanium
  • Case Design: Rounded edges and curved display around the sides
  • Sizes: 41mm or 45mm
  • Display Material: Sapphire front crystals
  • Health Features: ECG, Blood Oxygen, Heart Rate notifications
  • Special Features: None
  • Price: $799 - $849

Apple Watch 'Pro'
  • Case Material: Stronger titanium alloy with improved impact resistance
  • Case Design: "An evolution of the current rectangular shape," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman
  • Sizes: 47-48mm with 7% larger display
  • Display Materials: Improved crack and scratch resistance for athletes
  • Health Features: ECG, Blood Oxygen, Heart Rate notifications, and body temperature sensor
  • Special Features: Improved watchOS UI to show additional activity metrics thanks to the larger display
  • Price: Around $900 - $1,000

Knowing what you know now, we want to know how much you would be willing to pay for an Apple Watch "Pro." Let us know in the comments below, and check out our guide for everything we know about the upcoming Apple Watch lineup.

I do, but I don't get much out of logging it in the exercise app. I get that it seems to provide some motivation for other people, but to me it's just numbers. Data for the sake of it isn't useful to me.
This is a healthy mindset. Everyone, even those who currently benefit from daily watch wearing, should strive to reach a point where you don’t need the watch to hit your goals.

I am eyeing a silver titanium series 7 at a discount after this release! Let’s go! Been withholding buying it for month knowing this release is upcoming. My series 5 titanium black has served me well.

I would pay a 1000 but the big screen doesn’t appeal to me. I like the 45mm size. Maybe if they increase screen size and kept the body dimensions the same, however this ultra fitness watches are chonky big boy style and that’s part of the appeal is the big size for people to buy this watch. My guess is Apple will use long battery life, satellite phone coverage to entice the market to buy this watch. Use the satellite feature as an sos feature you can use when going out alone on a long run out in the woods. I can see the appeal.

I was having a scratching issues with my series 6 aluminum(had 2 previous Apple Watch aluminum before never had that issue). Ended up getting a Stainless Steel series 7 with the sapphire glass and I no longer have any issues with scratching. This kinda seems like overkill to be honest, I would have rather seen an aluminum model with Sapphire Glass that doesn’t cost as much as the stainless steel.

The sapphire glass needs to be standard. Apple ignores how much their smaller displays tend to scratch.

Honestly just give me the slightly larger display and a battery life rivaling Samsung/Garmin/Fitbit...
I recently got the galaxy watch 5. It was one of the worst, slowest, garbage products ive ever used. Samsung has nothing on Apple in this department.

That’s just it. Have you tried taking it off and living without it recently? I rarely had a watch before the Apple Watch. And now I forget it’s there. But I recently lost mine for a while and said I would try life without it again… at least until the keynote.

Wow. Some of the features I missed: pinging iPhone, answering phone calls, morning alarms, weather, press to record, timer…

It was actually missed. So much so I went out and bought a new one a few weeks ago - even though it’s just before a launch. Luckily I got my old watch back so I could return the new one, but I was quite surprised how much I used it even though I thought I didn’t notice it.

Good point!

I've bought every Apple Watch except for just one and I've always gone for Space Black Stainless Steel until Series 7 when I bought the Titanium Space Black model. Looks like I've paid about $700-$850 for my watches so if the Pro comes in around that, good. If it touches the $1000 threshold, I'll pause before upgrading.

Based solely on what you own in your signature, I think there’s a close to 100% chance that you’re going to purchase the Pro model.

I would pay around $300. These devices become obsolete very quickly. Perhaps I would pay more money for a luxury watch that can become a heirloom. Never for a device that will be obsolete within 2 years. I definitely don't need the extra ruggedness, so that feature for me is worthless. I believe that they play more into our desires to be top performers than the reality that most people don't break their watches while training. I don't know. I would prefer to take good care and replace my regular Apple Watch more frequently than having a tougher watch. Anyway, let's see what they show next week, for now it is all speculation.

It is worth what people will spend, but I consider a purchase at that price point to be foolish. Unless, it can check your blood or offer a 10 year software support guarantee, I don't see the value compared to the standard models.

About £100 because selling my old one I’m getting silly offers of £150 even though it cost £800.

I still haven’t sold the useless thing, I’ve had it listed on 3 websites I shall never buy one again.

I’ve never lost so much money over such a short period, even iPhones don’t bleed as much money.

Anyway if Apple does decide on a pro watch I’d expect the resale will be as much as the aluminium one as that’s all my stainless is attracting and it’s mint!

I deserve to be called out on my BS. I buy everything from Apple. I just can't help myself.

but I will say my Edition Titanium has a 3 year warranty and I love the design and battery life so I really should hold back this time. I will be buying a new iPhone like I do every year. Those hold their value much better than watches. The watch is easily 50%+ depreciation after 12 months.

Let's face it, "durable" means they'll make the glass less vulnerable. Do we need the aluminum or steel to be thicker? No, it's the glass. Will it be glass that doesn't break so easily? No, they've been BS'ing us about that for 12 years.

The current glass sits proud of the case. The "pro" glass will be flush, and so less vulnerable.

"Oh, you don't want the screen to shatter so easily? Um, yeah, that'll be a few hundred more. What? It broke anyway? Well, you should've bought the Apple Care+++"

Depends. Am I getting a watch that runs the same old software that is more “durable?” Or am I getting an actual Pro watch that separates itself from the regular watch?
The former lmao. The new watch won’t have anything different but the materials. It’s crazy how overpriced this thing is and they are going to up the price even more? It will be instant failure just like every high price edition they’ve released.

Very true. I heavily rely on it now.

Why do they even make an aluminum watch? How much different can the materials and manufacturing cost between the 2?
Id like to see a SS version and a 'rugged' non pro that was plastic cased and cheaper.

I don't have much use for the Pro model (at least based on the rumors I've read), but you crazy AW folks around here have certainly done a good job of selling me on stainless steel! I'll definitely be ready to pay the premium for SS once I'm ready to replace my Series 5. :)

Increase 100 USD on iPhone? Fine
Apple Watch should not go for standard nor Pro
Should be reachable enough to all.

Ive actually been considering getting the Garmin Fenix 7 for a few months but once I heard the rumors about the Apple Watch "explorer" edition I decided to hold off. Now, the Garmin runs $900-$1000 so I am willing to pay around that price for the AW but it has to have features very similar to the Garmin. Primarily the battery life, the Garmin can go for 18 days! Im really hoping they deliver some great unique features on this new AW because I would really miss being in the same ecosystem for my watch, but the Garmin is bounds above what the Apple Watch is offering in terms of metrics and satellite information. I mountain bike, gravel bike, hike, and run so im constantly on a mountain and love reviewing my metrics.

Are we competing with Rolex now? I can't wait for the Apple Watch Pro to show up in RAP videos! Bling! Bling!

£0.

Until I've got another 3 or so years out my S5, when I'll see how much more feature rich it is compared to the others.
