With inflation the way it is, there's no way in heck I'd ever pay $900-$1000 for an Apple Watch when I can buy the regular AW and add a $10 case for it from Amazon and get the same effect.

You don't exercise?
I do, but I don't get much out of logging it in the exercise app. I get that it seems to provide some motivation for other people, but to me it's just numbers. Data for the sake of it isn't useful to me.

If by "athletes" you mean... competitors and active people who train hard, I don't think many of them have a particular problem with the durability of current Apple Watches.
I am not an athlete by any means. I run around the streets and woods quite regularly and cross-country ski in the winter. My black AW6 with the basic black band has accompanied me for a couple of thousand miles. It is a great piece of equipment, and even the user interface is quite usable.

However:
  • The battery life is poor; in some cases the watch dies before three full hours of recording the run and listening to an audio book.
  • The battery life is awfully poor in cold weather; my AW has to wear more clothes than me if I am jogging or skiing when temperatures are significantly below freezing.
  • The cellular reception sensitivity is very poor. (This most probably is one of the major reasons behind the short battery life.)
If AW PRo fixes these (no, 20 % more life is not enough) and is below or at $1k, send me one, please.

$600 if it measures blood glucose.
Sadly,, that isn’t really ever going to happen IMHO… BGM or CGM would be the most premium of premium features if it ever got implemented and approved by the FDA. I would imagine that a device that like is going to start at the 900-1000$ lever for sure. Could be wrong, happens, but I’m not holding my breath for BGM or CGM anytime soon.

my fitness is more strength/bodybuilding oriented and i'm also a short asian 5'4''..so i have to keep with a 41mm.

Ok in the non Apple watch world 50mm to 55mm is common size and I have a 62mm in my collection so bigger is better just like the phone. A 50mm would provide a lot more Realestate for more complications. Thinner would be good and a slight curve would be good as this helps larger watches fit smaller wrists. Bigger means larger battery again just like the phone. Obviously due to software changes maximum duty cycle on an Apple Watch is about three years in my opinion. Premium materials like ceramic or titanium or even tungsten would add value. I do not think $1000 is out of the question but like everybody else I like to pay less and get more. I guess if you really wanna be noticed you put on the flying Tourbillon and call it a day. The Apple Watch is a tool not a statement.

Probably no more than I paid for my aluminium Series 7. I already don’t use half the stuff my watch can do, I’m definitely not going to pay more just for further features to go unused.

We're just a few days away from when Apple is expected to announce the Apple Watch "Pro," an entirely new Apple Watch explicitly designed for athletes and customers who want a more robust and durable Apple Watch.

Apple-Watch-Pro-Feature.jpg

The Apple Watch "Pro" has been described as a "rugged" Apple Watch that will feature a new design, a larger display and battery, and more durable materials to make it more suitable for athletes and those who are active. Those improvements won't come without an additional cost, however, with the new model priced above most versions in the current lineup.

The new Apple Watch will likely sit at the higher end of the Apple Watch lineup, likely replacing the Apple Watch Edition as the more expensive model in the lineup. To make things easier, we've put together a quick comparison chart comparing the Apple Watch Edition and the Apple Watch "Pro" below.

Apple Watch Series 7 Edition
  • Case Material: Titanium
  • Case Design: Rounded edges and curved display around the sides
  • Sizes: 41mm or 45mm
  • Display Material: Sapphire front crystals
  • Health Features: ECG, Blood Oxygen, Heart Rate notifications
  • Special Features: None
  • Price: $799 - $849

Apple Watch 'Pro'
  • Case Material: Stronger titanium alloy with improved impact resistance
  • Case Design: "An evolution of the current rectangular shape," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman
  • Sizes: 47-48mm with 7% larger display
  • Display Materials: Improved crack and scratch resistance for athletes
  • Health Features: ECG, Blood Oxygen, Heart Rate notifications, and body temperature sensor
  • Special Features: Improved watchOS UI to show additional activity metrics thanks to the larger display
  • Price: Around $900 - $1,000

Knowing what you know now, we want to know how much you would be willing to pay for an Apple Watch "Pro." Let us know in the comments below, and check out our guide for everything we know about the upcoming Apple Watch lineup.

Also its highly inflated data when tracking exercises but just doing normal activities, and when you don't use the app it doesn't track movement very well. This is on an S6 which should be way more accurate but they're still running into the core problem of battery life issues. If I wash my dishes or go for a run, my calorie burns are fairly similar for the length of time.

Depends. Am I getting a watch that runs the same old software that is more “durable?” Or am I getting an actual Pro watch that separates itself from the regular watch?
It will have a better camera.
And require the purchase of new bands that are only compatible with the Pro.

I love easy questions in the morning; For an Apple Watch I'm willing to pay Nothing point nothing nothing nothing.

It fills no need at all. OK, it fills one need, to tell the time when I am outside. A timex indiglo is $36.

Happy to pay for additional features on an iPhone but can’t see myself getting a Pro watch for the rumoured features.

Isn’t the existing model already the Pro models compared to the SE?

Think this will be the first year I skip and Apple Watch upgrade

I'm getting old and I don't see fine detail well. I am attracted to the larger display and if they use it make things bigger instead of add more stuff, I will seriously check it out. However a much higher price is a major obstacle.

The problem I am facing with my Apple Watch lately is that I am just too used to it now? Like I almost forget it is hanging on my wrist and thus I rarely interact with it anymore besides checking the time. I have also gotten numb to the haptic Feedback like somehow I don’t feel it anymore when I receive a notification.

watchOS also hasn’t really changed in 3 years besides additional watch faces
That’s just it. Have you tried taking it off and living without it recently? I rarely had a watch before the Apple Watch. And now I forget it’s there. But I recently lost mine for a while and said I would try life without it again… at least until the keynote.

Wow. Some of the features I missed: pinging iPhone, answering phone calls, morning alarms, weather, press to record, timer…

It was actually missed. So much so I went out and bought a new one a few weeks ago - even though it’s just before a launch. Luckily I got my old watch back so I could return the new one, but I was quite surprised how much I used it even though I thought I didn’t notice it.

I find it hard to justify the watch I have now. It has limited "must have" function, and even lower form. The Apple Watch is probably one of the ugliest watches I've seen with it's bulbous square fat design. It's one of the only Apple products that actually needs to get thinner. Making one out of gold or better materials wouldn't make any difference to me. Actually I haven't been wearing it for over a week and the only thing I miss is being able to tell the time.

I guess for me to justify any kind of Apple Watch upgrade it would have to bring some sort of value. Either a complete overhaul of its design (for example make a round Apple Watch), or it would have to have some sort of must have/ can't live without feature such a built in camera where it allows me to leave my phone at home when jogging.

I don’t think I’d pay more than $50 more. The iPhone pro isn’t more than double the standard iPhone. I change my phone out each year and get the pro. But I don’t see the value in spending 900-1000 on a watch that becomes useless when the tech becomes obsolete. I just don’t use the watch the same way I use the phone.

I like the bigger size being discussed. But for 500-600 more - not a chance.

That’s not pro pricing, that’s sucker pricing.

It will likely just run the same OS, and extremely limited apps built to take advantage of it from developers given what we have available on Series 7 watches today.

Double the battery life, maybe I'd pay the same amount as a 7 Edition watch. No interest in case material or improved scratch resistance of the glass compared to the standard aluminum 7 series.
