These arguments are completely oblivious to the fact that they could have always been charging over $1,000 if they thought people would pay that price. The problem is, people will not pay that price.

The 7 Plus at MAXIMUM storage of 256GB is $969+ tax in the US.

The premium iPhone will start at $949 or $969 and start at 64GB (far below the 256GB keep this in mind, far, far below the 256GB).

The 256GB option will come in around $1129-$1149. Enjoy.

Glad you do not handle my investments. We will never agree but Apple will show us all in the late fall or early winter.

I will not go 1 penny over $999.99 before tax for a 128gb.

If they ask for more, I will strongly have to reconsider further investment in the apple ecosystem. Apple was very competitive with their prices as recently as 5 years ago, but their whole portfolio has slowly increased and now we're seeing some borderline ridiculous prices. It all seemed to start with the introduction of the rMBP in 2012.

I have the 256GB 7+, so I’m not necessarily against spending a lot on a phone. I have to see the value in it though: a few killer features, high storage capacity, and/or impressive design and build quality. I have mixed feelings about what I’ve seen come out of the rumor mill so far. I’m not going to just go throw my money at Apple to have the latest and greatest; I’ll stick with my 7+ for another year if I’m not impressed.

I will pay whatever it costs if I want it. That's just the way I shop. But, my 6s Plus is doing all I need atm------

$900 is still way too high. But I'm not in the market for anything new.

I'm currently at 1000 as my ABSOLUTE maximum, it's so much money and it's "just" a phone.
In reality 900 is the most I paid so far.

But there is a possibility that I could be convinced if an upcoming iPhone REALLY blows me away.

When I bought the first iPhone in 2007, it was by far the most expensive phone I've ever purchased.
But I didn't mind at all because it was so different than anything else.

Vote above.

*Never mind the specific model, just your maximum.

Besides dropping full price we need to follow what Carriers will allow I feel Like we were Fooled into rejected Carrier subsidies here we are paying $1,000 for a Phone when they would be $300 or $400 on a 2 Year Contract.

Anyways $1,000 Divided by 24 Months is $41.66 that's what I'll pay.
Or Most Carriers Have done Away with OWning the Phone so we don't have the same Rights as if we owned it most carriers just do 18 Month Leases Now. That's 18/ $55 a Month lease But you can get a New Phone after 12 Payments.

None of the above.

I top out at around 700-800 (I've shopped and seriously considered, though never actually paid, this much for one), and even I admit that's absurd. From my view anyway.

Unfortunately I had to pay full price for my wife's iPhone 7 Plus 128gb about a week after it released due to her iPhone 6 plus getting touch disease and not getting Apple Care Plus. I will never pay that much for a phone ever again. What a waste of money. I will wait and get it on sale like I did with my 7 32gb from Best Buy for $170 off.

The price difference between the 64 GB and 256 GB version in all probability will be just $100.

IMO iPhone edition 64 GB will cost $999.

I won’t be buying any iPhone in 2017 due to financial reasons. But just chiming in with my thoughts about potential pricing.

It depends on the features and the redesign, if the features like facial recognition (that has just leaked called face ID) are in the iPhone 8 along with OLED display, wireless charging and so on then I'm willing to pay more for the iPhone 8 than I would be for the 7s/7 Plus. I paid £820 for the iPhone 7 Plus (I buy my phones outright here in U.K it's cheaper than contract which works out at around £40-£55 a month when a new iPhone comes out and that's for a 24 month contract) so for the 8/"Pro" (or whatever they decide to call it) I don't mind the rumoured price of £1000 to £1200 in U.K pounds.

I currently have the 7+ 32GB that cost me £719.00.
My limit would probably be around £750.00, but I have a feeling it will cost more, and I KNOW that when I see that first slick video of the new iPhone during the Apple press conference, I will just cave in at any price as it will sell it to me for definite.

Happens every year.

Apple Watch Series 2, not interested... then I saw the video and bought one.
iPad Pro, Macbook.

Costs a lot, but I believe the products are worth it.

This! I think a lot of people are the same, it happens every year people on this forum say they are not buying the new iPhone because (it doesn't have a headphone jack or it won't have Touch ID) what every the reason and then it's announced shown off at the keynote talks about, and suddenly those people are on here on pre-order day talking about how they have pre-ordered one at midnight (or whatever the time is where they area). I think the iPhone 8 is going to be great, I think with it being the 10th anniversary of the iPhone Apple have been working on a great iPhone.

Just wish I knew the date of the keynote already so i can keep it free from any plans or work :)

Same! I need to know the keynote date as I'll be scheduling to leave work earlier to ensure I don't miss a second. Also considering booking the launch day off of work. Never done that before but I know it would be worth it.

Would be like Christmas day! :D

I'm only going to do it because it's the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and I have a feeling this iPhone 8 is going to be awesome :D my guess for the keynote will be around the 11th September with possible pre-orders that Friday maybe

Personally, I don't feel like I was "fooled" into rejecting carrier subsidies.

Old Plan
  • Plan: $240 * 24 = $5,760
  • Device ($850 tier): $400 * 4 = $1,600
  • Total: $7,360

New Plan
  • Plan: $160 * 24 = $3,840
  • Device ($850 tier): $850 * 4 = $3,400
  • Total: $7,240

Those $1,000 phones will probably be $500-600 on contract. I like the new plans. I save money the longer I keep my phone or if I choose a less expensive phone such as the iPhone SE. Oh, and I own the phone after paying off the installment plan.

Considering I sold my S7 for $315 and could sell my SE for about $250-$280, I am willing to buy the iPhone OLED model out of pocket, but I do not believe $800 out of pocket is worth the price, but time will tell.

I can only afford to pay max £1000 for it. I am not sure how much it would cost on a contract, the 7 Plus 256GB (most expensive iPhone) is:

* £56 m/o with £250 upfront on Vodafone (with student discount, it would be £50.04 m/o)
* £58 m/o with £49 upfront on EE (no student discount)
* £47 m/o with £129 upfront on O2 (with student discount, it would be £44 m/o)

(there are other plans, but these are the ones with most upfront cost)

O2 seems the cheapest here. So I think their iPhone 8 plans would be the cheapest, I might just switch to them and cancel my existing contract with Vodafone if I am not able to buy the device outright or I can't get a reasonable plan with Vodafone.
