Serial phone upgrader - iPad not so much

I've ordered new phone on launch day each year for last 4 cycles. Replaced iPad 2nd gen with iPad Air. See no need to replace the iPad. Now my 2011 Mac Air - it's getting close.

Last year hurts, I upgraded so the Air twice because of LTE and/or Storage and ended selling it for Air 2.

i repeat

do NOT let pass the concept of update your hardware
that is what who makes big money wants
that is not good for your mental and wallet health

as long as it works
as long as it's fast enough

there is no damn need to update-grade anything.

my ipad3 is working flawlessly, now to my son
i got my mini2 and i'll use it as long as it will be sweetly useable.

I replaced my iPad 3 with an iPad Air 2 last year, so that was 2 years and change. I'll probably replace my iPad mini 2 with the mini 4 this year because I made the mistake of getting the 16gb model. After that, I think 2 -3 years is a reasonable upgrade cycle.

I upgrade every 2 years. Iphone and Ipad..if u have money, u can buy the lastest and greatest

No hard rule for me. It depends on what else I want, available money, need, and level of gear lust. With tablets, I got the iPad 2 early when it came out, a Nexus 7 in summer of '13, then an iPad Air 2 this January.

I imagine the Air 2 will last me quite a while, though I'd jump on a hybrid Apple device that's like the Surface, just with better software/OS support.

Let's see, I've had the iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad Air, and iPad Air 2. Since I am on the NEXT program (did that when I purchased the iPad Air), I will most likely upgrade every year. I enjoy having the latest model, so why not?

iPad 2->iPad Mini->iPad Air 2

I didn't get the mini upon release date. I'll keep my Air 2 for at least two years, possibly longer depending on performance. Touch ID was one big feature that got me to upgrade. Beyond general performance it'll take something of that magnitude to force me to upgrade, in general I was fairly happy with the performance of the Mini 1.

Usually only after I have accidentally flung my iPad across the room

Otherwise I'd be happy with every 3+ years. That said, my mom is still loving her original iPad. Go figure.

I bought the original iPad. Then the 3. I was going to buy the Air 2 this spring, but an unwanted job change at lower salary delayed that :(

I still have the three and a 1st Gen Mini, but I don't really use them much since the iPhone 6 Plus so I don't know if/when I will upgrade.

Went from ipad 2 to ipad 3 release day. Still with my ipad 3 but its getting pretty long in the tooth with slow downs. Waiting for the next update or pro and I'm all in.

I am using an iPad 3. Since, I did not upgrade the OS beyond its native iOS 5; haven't felt the subtle pressure from Apple to upgrade hardware; with their one-way tickets to OS sluggishness.

I kept my original iPad until the 4 was out and I got an iPad3...I then got an iPad4 on release of the iPad air and when the rMini3 came out I got the rMini2...I don't need :apple:'s latest and greatest on release date, they are far cheaper with the next model comes out:eek: (my iPad4 16Gb w/ cellular AND rMini2 32Gb total cost me $510 NIB from the base PX:D).

Are there any apps that you can't use because you didn't update iOS? Do you also have a Mac and/or an iPhone and if so does it affect your ecosystem? I also have a 3 and I a have noticed some lag only recently. Even though I've had this thing almost 3 years I have just now started playing some games. I've noticed the most lag on those.

I plan on getting an Air 3 late this year or early next year and was contemplating keeping iOS 9 on there as long as I can use all the apps I want and I don't have to update the iOS to keep it working with my other Apple stuff.
