Now another question: how often do you use your MacBook Pro plugged in/on battery? Do you leave it on charge overnight?

I try to use it on battery during the day and charge overnight. Sometimes I do need to charge during the day though if I'm using it a lot.

Daily use both on and off, some days it runs nearly flat, always left on charge overnight.

MBP/Batt is 2Yrs 9mths old, 594 cycles and currently has 93% of original capacity, which when fully wound down just web browsing gives a solid 7hrs @60-70% screen brightness with the HDD has spun down (it spends most of its time spun down as it just carries my iPhoto library and iTunes media, no work stuff.

(If using Aperture typically 3-5hrs, iTunes just gobbles it with loads of unnecessary CPU - why is that???)

I almost never shutdown unless I know I won't be using it for a couple of days. Otherwise, it stays on or standby when I'm traveling. I just leave it on overnight too

rMBP drains 1% of battery per hour in sleep mode. If I leave it in sleep mode for 24h, it eats about 22-24% battery. It consumes charge cycles therefore it is not healthy for your battery. Shutting down you rMBP will help you preserve good battery life.

I recommend shutting it down. Late 2013 rMBP starts and shuts in no time thanks to PCIe SSD.

First, you can leave it plugged in during sleep, so it won't drain the battery at all.

Second, using charge cycles is not unhealthy for a battery. That's what batteries are designed for.

Finally, after a rMBP has been in sleep mode for about 3 hours (1 hour on pre-2013 models), it can enter standby mode (provided certain requirements are met), which can take up to 30 days to drain a fully charged battery if not plugged in.

Not shut my laptop down once since I purchased it in November.

Weekdays I leave my charger at work and have it plugged in during the day, put it too sleep on my way home, use it at home and back to sleep for the night.

Weekends I leave it plugged in at home and take it out 1 day to program with my friends or what not, never take the charger with me.

Standby mode sounds great but somehow it didn't work for my rMBP (Late 2013). I've unplugged everything, turned off all programs and put it to sleep. Next day at about same time (lets say after about 24h) the battery is 22-24% lower than the day before. I've tried it several times - I guess I'm unlucky.

And correct me if I am wrong, but even if AC is plugged in during sleep, the energy still goes through battery - aka it drains battery and fills constantly. Therefore battery is still working.

You'll have to do some troubleshooting to determine why your Mac isn't entering standby mode, as it should work if the conditions are met, as described in the linked article.

No, when a battery is plugged in and fully charged, it stops charging and runs on AC power. Apple charging technology is designed to avoid the shallow charging/discharging you described.

Every time I don´t use it. Recharging when it ask for it. I´m aware the sleep-mode is excellent with MBP´s, so it might just be a bad habit from my Windows-time.

Ditto, freaking ditto.

Considering the boot time is ~5-8 seconds anyways there's no need to leave it in sleep mode, at least for me anyways :p

The only time I use sleep mode is when I'm at work and need to travel to other locations on campus. I do turn off when I go home from work and turn off when I go to bed.

Since I use mine weekdays for about 9 hours nonstop, I shut mine down at the end of the day. If I'm at home, I just put it in sleep, but I do lose some battery that way, which is understandable (not so bad if you disable bluetooth).
