I think it's good UI design over a hardware flaw. It's a black area that is unusable on the screen, but why not just fill it with UI that would have dark space in it anyway. Pretty smart.
Very valid points. Hopefully these are addressedIt's neat, but I see a couple things that could be improved...
The time is now hidden when a new call comes in. Can't quickly see the time to decide if you want to take the call before your next meeting, or maybe you're expecting another call soon.
The signal bars are now hidden during a call. Can't see if poor reception could be affecting the call at a quick glance.
I honestly don't know anyone who watches movies on their phone.Work well when you are using it as a phone - flip the phone on its side and watch the clips of movies and it looks shocking.
No offense but this question is kind of wild. It’s an entire hardware change that made this possible, which you had to have noticed. Will this be os enabled or is it a 14 only feature ?
Personally I love it
I do. I know others who do. Plenty of people have different use cases for their tech. When you're travelling, on a break at work, waiting between jobs at a site, sitting in a cafe etc. There are plenty of times you're not at home. The Max is big enough to watch something comfortably. Of course it can't compare to watching at the cinema, at home on a TV or even on an iPad, but for the sake of convenience it can't be beat.I honestly don't know anyone who watches movies on their phone.
Exactly!!! Haters gonna hate.It is and the people crapping on it are for the most part Android users who were prepared to crap on anything presented.
Just make it partially translucentIt's neat, but I see a couple things that could be improved...

I didn’t bother watching the advert I mean show as I found it very boring and very predictable and I can’t stand the whole way it’s done now .No offense but this question is kind of wild. It’s an entire hardware change that made this possible, which you had to have noticed.
We have been swiping down touching the notch area for years now.The result will be that people will touch their front camera quite often. That is not good for the image quality.

I can understand they did all this pre recorded video stuff when the pandemic was in full swing , now it’s over why can’t they go back to live shows ?
I remember Apple initially had a name for the notch on iPhone X. The Ears. That wasn't really for the notch but for the 2 sides of it.Loved it and was a pleasant highlight from yesterday.
Also, while the naming is terrible, someone online called the notch (iPhone X - 13) the “Constant Peninsula” 😂
I call both very minor or at leas for myself irrelevant. I already have a clock widget on the main screen and never once I look at the signal bars since they are never a good reflection of the reception strength. Have had poor quality calls with full reception bars and excellent quality calls with one to none bars. I personally do not look at them to determine the call quality. It's neat, but I see a couple things that could be improved...

"Do not disturb" does what you want as far as notifications. The volume level indicator auto hides always. So I think get what you want with "Do not disturb".I'll hold my final opinion until after I see it in action personally. But I don't think I want a hole that shows me notifications while I'm watching a video in landscape, or for that matter when I'm surfing the web even in portrait. I want to be able to get to the point that just the thing I'm doing in the foreground is the only thing on the screen. No volume level indicator, no nothing else. Can it do that?
I watched a couple of hours after the event, on YouTube at 2x speed 😂Not like I sat through it either. They have this thing called chapters. Went to iPhone one. Did some forwarding. Wasted a few mins.
My only thing is that apps will need updated. It’ll happen but I’m also good with waiting for iPhone 15 and not go through it.
