A groady old backpack with a neoprene sleeve, then nobody will think you have anything valuable :)

I have the apple case on mine so I just slip it in next to my 13" MBP in its incase messenger bag style case thingy, dunno the model but there is exactly enough room for the MBP + iPad.

I have not yet decided how I will carry it alone as I don't actually expect to do that. I would look at messenger style bags with handles like a priefcase kinda, with room for some extras like papers and cables.

I didnt mean to say sachels or messenger bags would be considered as purses; i've personally owned a messenger bag in the past though with the ipad now i'd like to get away from the whole "college student" look. But thats just me personally; I dont want to carry a big old backpack everyday just to take my ipad with me everywhere...

...but to each his own. I have however, after scouring the accessories forum seen quite a few small little carry bags that do indeed look like purses. And trust me i will laugh (at the behest of my strongest reservations) when i see some guy with one. Lucky girls.

What's wrong with a "Man Purse"?

I'm not feminine and a "man purse" is. I have nothing against others wearing it.

I wanna wear it like a sword on my back... I might tape a stick to it so i can pull it out easily and hold it easily as well.

Does this work?

No!

Bahahahahaha

This thread has given me laughs.

You got a couple choices.... a messenger bag, a one strapped backpack, or a two strapped backpack.

You're not going to get a freaking iPad/Gun holster, that would be obscenely awkward in real use situations.

Would it really be though? With a strap running around the neck/trapezius area and running across the back/chest with the iPad tucked snugly under the arm. A bottom zipper could be added to pull the iPad out from below.

Someone needs a googling.....boom zipper open iPad out, quick draw style.

Are you a child or a virgin? You need to grow up. Having that kind of thing would look more silly than you carrying an actual womens handbag. Why dont you just carry it in your hand or in a shopping bag if you are that against backpacks and such.

Child? I'm 30.
Virgin? I'm engaged.
Dork? Perhaps at heart but not externally.

Just concerned that the straps are a little too narrow. Does this qualify as a "man purse"? lol

Here's my honest response on that link. It's not per se a purse and though I do like the look of the nice looking somewhat worn brown leather, this doesn't scream out masculine in anyway. I'll admit it's nice but I personally think this would deter women away from your cause. But that's just me.

Wow...makes you seem such more a loser to be 30 and so persistant about having a thing (purse) to put under your arm that fits the ipad which you dont want to be a purse. With the size of the ipad in a thing like a gun would be in , that would make it look like a womens purse. Even though you say you dont want that. You need to get your brain working. Why would you even want a holster for an ipad???? I bet you bought a holster thing for a tv remote.

Looking at that shoulder holster pic, not actually a bad idea to carry it under a jacket or something. Look like you're not carrying anything (the whole point of a concealed shoulder holster I suppose). You could probably achieve the same thing with just a large pocket inside the jacket though. Maybe clothes manufacturers will have 'iPad-ready' pockets on their new lines.

Wearing it on the outside though would a bit wanky I reckon, like this hip holster. A straightforward belt clip on a standard case would be a better option than a hip holster imo.

Just a thought after my previous post. I'm starting to imagine clothes made with large iPad pockets now. Jeans with big thigh pockets. Shirts or jackets with big side pockets. Men will probably prefer to stick an iPad into a big pocket than to carry it with shoulder straps.

The current argument that iPads are too big to fit in your pocket will no longer apply if they simply start making pockets bigger.

I need to get my brain working? Thanks Professor.

I'm at a loss. How am I supposed to carry around my iPad without having to carry it in my hands all the time and having to resort to using a man purse?

How about a woman purse? They're usually prettier, too :p

No imagine a gun holster that sits under the arm but made for iPad. Something like that.

:D Fastest iPad in the West!

I wear mine strapped to my chest like Dr. Theopolis on Buck Rogers:D

I looked at it and it won't work as an iPad wallet. too clumbersome. I do like the timbuck2 xs quickey
Plus yes I think the narrow straps are an issue.
I think it is a good rule of thumb that narrow straps tend to look pursey and wider heavier straps are more masculine
