The Scottvest!

This is pretty much exactly what I want to do, only with a slightly more fashionable p-coat instead of trashbag-resembling vest...

It's not that I feel self-cosncious carrying a bag or "man-purse" it's just that since I'm not used to carrying one, I might be more likely to forget it somewhere, whereas the jacket pocket is part of my jacket, something I'm not in the habit of losing.

I think i've found something

How about this?

It has 2 compartments that should fit the iPad, and its modular, so you can add additional compartments pockets. I'm going to be ordering the black one. :D

Problem Solved

Now if you were asking how to carry an ipad without looking like a douchebag then that is another story...

I've been looking for a horizontal messenger bag that isn't too big. I find some of the vertical messenger bags to resemble a purse. I would love to see/hear about any good choices that aren't already listed in this thread.

That's interesting. Most women's purses (at least almost all the ones my wife owns) are horizontal.

I found an interesting case that I was wondering if anyone has seen or bought:

Good hunting!

I've seen it too, and agree that it's interesting. I haven't been able to find a pic of video of someone actually wearing one though. I'd really like to see how it would be worn. Is it similar to a sling backpack or closer to a fanny pack:D?

I also would like to see more internal shots and I don't know how I feel about their "GRID IT" organization system.

I will check that out. I'm looking for something that sits close to my body preferably under my arm. As high up under my arm as possible.

but I vote fir the timbuk2 bags if you don't want to look sissy or metrosexual.
The Classic xs is the same as the Netbook version but without the padding. If the ipad has its own case get the Timbuk2 Classic XS.
It's on your back if you want OR tighten up the strap and wear it off your shoulder.

Avoid everything specifically made for the iPad altogether, and check out army surplus stores online. Spend a fraction of the price for something just as good or better!

Why spend $80-$100 on a bag that you can buy for $20-$30??

I got the Alpha Flap Zip Cross Body messenger bag from Tumi made with black ballistic nylon plus leather on stress points.*
http://www.tumi.com/product/product-detail/?modelId=135975

The center pocket is big enough for me to put the iPad (which is padded by the Eco-Vue folio). The back side pocket is perfect for the wireless BT keyboard. Under the front flap is a pocket with zipper that is great for cables, chargers, pens, business cards, and other items. There's a lower front outside zipper side pocket useful your iPhone or anything you for which you want quick access.

For times I just want to take the iPad, that holster concept would be perfect.
Damn, way too expensive for me...$175?! Should be from a Coach store, no?

I'll also throw in that I'm happy to be a girl. It finally helps my big purse make sense! :D

Two days until 3g day, and I still haven't found a bag to carry it in...

Anyone find anything new??

Hello there

I was considering buying maxpedition's neatfreak organizer to carry mine.
The dimensions seem to be right but Im not quite sure whether it will fit smoothly?

Anyone tried to fit their iPad in this bag?

For now I stick with my falcon II backpack using the sleeve pocket on the front of the main compartment and it works just fine :)

Anyways Im looking for something smaller just to carry my iPad and prehaps some paper and a pen since paper books for me are slowly becoming obsolete... ;)

it's funny this shouldn't be any kind of an issue.

I have a fetish for shoulder bags. I have about 5. Ever since Indiana Jones.

I do have a couple that are questionable, (one in particular)

I just don't use them. Same thing with clothes.

If it doesn't feel right from the start it never will.

And there's nothing worse than feeling self conscious about something silly like this.

These SF bags are nice but questionable for guys IMHO

Note: Never took to the fedora :D

LOVE the Fedoras. Always have even before Indy. I just have to be careful to get a bag that isn't too Indy looking as it dates me.
I ordered a W/F sleeve that I think looks reasonable and gives good protection.
