Would it really be though? With a strap running around the neck/trapezius area and running across the back/chest with the iPad tucked snugly under the arm. A bottom zipper could be added to pull the iPad out from below.

Someone needs a googling.....boom zipper open iPad out, quick draw style.

It would be for anyone of average weight and below. To have an iPad strapped up against your rib cage (something that isn't flat) would be awkward at best.

But.. then again, everyone has different opinions on such things, so if you have the funds and the means, don't let anyone here stop you from making one. Beyond that, there would have to be demand for a company to make one, and I'm not sure if I'm seeing such demand yet.

I think you want to search google for "gadget holster".

None of those are of size to fit an iPad.

The iPad is ~ 7.5" x 9.5" and *not* flexible. The items in question you show are for either multiple smaller items (so the pack would be flexible) or for one smaller item (so the pack is small enough to fit on your body in that position to feel comfortable).

It's not rocket science people.

Unless you are a somewhat big person with flat portions in odd areas, an iPad in a holster position is not going to be all that comfortable.

ugh......didn't look at the specs closely enough....I'm gonna have to look at the other models.

Check out MilSpec Monkey for some reviews on Maxpedition stuff.

I ordered a Colossus (to carry a iPad+DSLR in) from Camp Smarter. Their prices are very good and they make you "add to cart" to see the price (this is a good thing).

If you've ever wondered why the list price on eBags is higher than from Maxpedition themselves it has to do with Minimum Advertised Price and eBags almost continual 20% off promos.

sweet....thanks.

I have a Jumbo versipack. The iPad* just fits. If you get one, remember that the LEO and EDC variants don't have the storm collar, so if you live somewhere with inclement weather, there will be a slight gap with the EDC and LEO variants, not the Jumbo.

*by iPad, I mean my hardcandy case. I'm waiting for my 3G.

hmmm.....I'm looking at the camo colossius but camp smarter is sold out.....is the iPad in Jumbo a pretty tight fit (I assume it would be)?

Height? Yeah, it is a little tight, but not too bad. You can adjust the snap on the front. It raises up a tad over the lip. I also have a Jumbo Rolypoly attached to the bag for expanded storage and a Janus. I may try to slip it in the CCW compartment.

I'm thinking of a mongo, but I was really looking go get/use something small. I have several bags from Crumpler that'd fit the bill if I wanted to go larger. The Breakfast Buffet will fit the iPad and case, but it doesn't have the pouches or expandability of the Maxpedition. That's what I love about their bags; tons of pouches, very water resistant, and a lot of expansion options.

My iPad will go to work with me. I have a 45 minute commute on the train and no wi-fi.

nice....I might just grab the jumbo versipack then.

I may have to sew for the first time in my life.

I plan to sew a special iPad pocket to the inside of an old coat and, if it's comfortable, do it on a newer one.

Someone is already ahead of you.

The Scottvest!

I think it's hilarious that there is so much negativity towards a "man purse"... To the point that some of you would consider that ugly vest/jacket? Even if I could bring myself to wear that, it would be useless to me 10 months out of the year (crappy Texas heat).

A normal back pack perhaps?

I agree Robert. Nike makes a great backpack that I travel with. If I'm usually flying somewhere only for a day, it's what I bring with me - has a more padded sleeve in the compartment closest to your back and ample room for tons of accessories and other things you may be carrying in the same compartment or in the others. I think Targus also has similar ones available. Check at your typical brick-and-morter or online retailers, and I bet you'll find something you like that isn't in the man-purse ("murse") category.

I agree with regards to the backpack, but I'm more concerned about security throughout the day. I'm looking for something that will allow me to take the ipad with me wherever I go. For example if you're in a star bucks and you need to use the facilities, a backpack is kind of awkward to have to take with you.

I will check that out. I'm looking for something that sits close to my body preferably under my arm. As high up under my arm as possible.

you just described a purse lol.

No imagine a gun holster that sits under the arm but made for iPad. Something like that.

Really?! A shoulder holster for an iPad? Really? Do you plan on your iPad being at your side for life-saving purposes that often (as a cop's side arm is)?

You'd look way better carrying a "man purse." Like the above poster noted, get a messenger bag with an internal laptop sleeve. The likes of Patagonia, Timbuk2, Mountainsmith, etc make several models each.

But for the love of God, don't be the Lt. Sipowicz of the iPad...

Oh god i seriously laughed out loud for like 5 minutes after all these posts XD

I got the Alpha Flap Zip Cross Body messenger bag from Tumi made with black ballistic nylon plus leather on stress points.*
http://www.tumi.com/product/product-detail/?modelId=135975

The center pocket is big enough for me to put the iPad (which is padded by the Eco-Vue folio). The back side pocket is perfect for the wireless BT keyboard. Under the front flap is a pocket with zipper that is great for cables, chargers, pens, business cards, and other items. There's a lower front outside zipper side pocket useful your iPhone or anything you for which you want quick access.

For times I just want to take the iPad, that holster concept would be perfect.

My husband just got this bag and he loves it. The iPad fits nicely even with the apple case and he has room for his wallet, overdrive and other small items. I doubt he'll use it for travel but for every day, it's perfect.

One note for guys who aren't used to carrying a bag...don't forget it when leaving restaurants. My husband had an OQO umpc and started carrying a bag at that time. He almost left his bag on chairs at restaurants until he got used to remembering it was there.
