Is your iPad jailbroken? There are two patches that you have to install. They're posted in the thread.

The VPN is connecting but the app doesn't work? When you're on another wifi network. If you can connect VPN, go to whatismyip.com and check what IP address shows up. It should display your home IP though your'e connected from an outside network.

im not able to connect to another wifi and test it at this moment, but yesterday i successfully connected to the vpn from another wifi network, but the laptop optimum app detected that i was not at home somehow

That means the VPN was not working. did VPN connect on your Mac? Before you tried the app?

yes i can connect to the vpn..im not sure why it would allow me to connect without it actually working..what could cause that?

ok so im on another wifi network, i can connect to the vpn, however the IP address is different than the one at home..so obviously the settings are messed up..do you know which settings i need to fix?

Are you running the easy VPN software? Or are you using a router with a built in VPN server? It sounds like it isn't routing IP properly.

On your Mac go to Preferences/Network. In the VPN settings click on advance, under options make sure "Send all traffic over VPN connection" is checked.

ok the "send all traffic" option wasn't checked..now ill have to connect to another network somehow and check

thanks for your responses Coleman!

unfortunately i havent been able to try it out at a different wifi location other than the one ive been attempting to connect with..i finally got a speedtest running though..speed was about 1.97 up which is near what i get at home..however the download speed was pretty low when connected to the vpn..im on a network at the library (so it's generally fast when not connected to the vpn)

some numbers (connected to library network right now):
Non-VPN: D- 26mbps U- 13mbps
VPN: D- 2mbps U- 2mbps

I noticed today Cablevision is forcing an update to 3.0.3. Does anyone know if there is a patch yet to run 3.0.3 on a jailbroken device?

I tried 3.0.3 on my iphone w/ VPN over Wi-Fi. I didn't have any problems.
It doesn't work for me over 3G - but I've bother tried to get that to work.

Strange. When I tested it the other day it didn't work. I just tested it now and it's working. Thanks!

I forgot to put in the instructions to set energy saver in System preferences to to never sleep so your VPN server is always running.

Doesn't it wake up when there are network connections if you enable it? It's not good to leave your PC running 24/7.

I have an old SSD based Hackintosh. I have no issue leaving it on 24/7.

You still have a lot of power consumption and computer wear (especially in the fans) if you leave it on all the time. My Mac Pro is set to sleep after a certain amount of time, but it wakes up whenever I need to connect to it through my port-fowarded VNC and such.

Another alternative is to setup a VPN server on a linux-based router. I have OpenVPN running on a Netgear router w/TomatoUSB. It's always on anyway - and once it's up and running you can pretty much forget about it. I have this setup at a remote location and I've run simultaneous streams to my iPhone and iPad with no issues on Wi-Fi.

Has anyone been able to get the Optimum video exported to an AppleTV? I get mirroring to work with DisplayOut and UnrestrictPremium but it's a very pixelated picture. Both apps have their pros and cons depending on which Video App I'm running. For the Optimum App, DisplayOut is the winner, as you can resize the image to fit the TV well.

UnrestrictPremium lets you export the video stream on some apps without mirroring (HBOGO is a good example of it working well), but when I try this with the Optimum App, it just throws an error. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Iv'e never tried it. I either watch TV when I'm traveling on my iPhone, iPad or on the laptop. I've never tried to export to a TV since I have a Tivo connected to my television already. I really don't see the point.
