Yes, it can be done for TW Cable. Same basic setup and installed tweaks for the iPad/iPhone.Coleman

What version of the iOS are you running?Guys
Just switched to fios, but l thank you all for the cablevision hacks..
Question-
I cannot install the fios iPad app because it needs 5.1
Is there any way around that? Thanks

I don't know if yours is jailbroken or if you saved your SHSH Blobs to install an older OS>
3. Install EasyVPN. You can grab it here. It's $5 and allows a 30 day free trail. http://www.squashedsoftware.com/products-easyvpn.php
Any thoughts on how to do this on a Raspberry Pi (Linux) so I could keep it running alway?
Thanks!
I updated my iDevices to iOS6.1 and redid the jailbreak. I am missing the DisableOptimumVPNDetection deb file.
Anyone have a link where I can download it?

Have you tested that port forwarding is working? Are you sure you forwarded the correct ports to the IP address of the computer running EasyVPN?Coleman2010, looks like youve had a great success rate helping folks out in this thread. I followed your instructions but cant seem to get my iphone or ipad to connect. I tried setting up a VPN using easyVPN on both a mac book pro and an imac. neither were successful connecting to my ipad or iphone.
I get the VPN Connection "The PPTP-VPN server did not respond. Try reconnecting. If the problem continues, verify your settings and contact your Administrator." error message.
unfortunately Im new here so I dont have PM available. wondering if there are any common errors youve seen in the past that may apply to me. I did enable port forwarding on those ports in the instructions.
to be honest im not sure i did, although i think i did.Have you tested that port forwarding is working? Are you sure you forwarded the correct ports to the IP address of the computer running EasyVPN?
Try running speediest.net to test what your upgrade speed is. Then try it again using a computer connected to VPN to see if your upload speed is the bottle neck.to be honest im not sure i did, although i think i did.
my router is flashed with dd-wrt, so i was able to set up the VPN straight through the router with the ports forwarded as instructed. i wasn't happy with the speeds of the data transfer, so i decided to see how it would perform using the mac with easyVPN. i set the router back to all the defaults, and enabled the pptp passthrough and left the PPTN server option disabled (which was enabled when using the router only to run the VPN).
im new to all of this stuff, but usually find success following guides like yours. so kind of confused at the moment.
Looks difficult but will try when I get home
Cablevision's Optimum for iPad app adds streaming even when users are away from home.
It's been about two years since Cablevision introduced its Optimum for iPad app that brought its live TV channels streaming to the tablet, and now it's finally ready to offer the feature even when users are away from their home WiFi network. That ability is coming in an update rolling out tonight, however currently it only applies to the News 12, News 12 Traffic & Weather & MSG Varsity channels. All of those are at least partially owned by Cablevision, which should help it avoid the sort of legal challenges suffered by its initial rollout. Other tweaks in version 3.1 include improved guide info for shows, the ability to delete multiple recordings and an indicator when scheduling an in-progress recording. Of course, most subscribers will want to stream other, more popular channels to their mobile devices and PCs no matter where they are -- we'll see if they start popping up soon, and how quickly the lawsuits fly afterwards.
