Year 3 of broken promises. Usually that results in a break-up. From what I understand 17 Pro only one supporting the "advanced" AI features.
There are only two things exclusive to the A19 Pro: The new dictation model, and the new customizable Siri voice. All other Apple Intelligence features shown are available to all devices that support Apple Intelligence, and everything that was originally promised with 18 is now available plus a lot more. I'm not really sure what promise was broken this time.

I'll never understand the desire to be negative about these things all the time.

Somehow, I feel like Apple is taking me for a ride more and more! When is the full power of Apple Intelligence supposed to be available again? With the iPhone 16 Pro in 2025!

And today?

Today I find out that even with an iPhone 18 Pro coming out in a few months, I still won’t be able to use AI because I live in the EU. What a load of crap!

Did you misread something? Apple says iPhones all the way back to iPhone 11 are compatible.
No you misread something.

Requires iPhone 17 Pro

"While many of the new AI features in iOS 27 run on the same hardware supported today (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro), Apple has higher standards for a new on-device model.

To run Apple’s most powerful on-device model, you’ll need:

  • iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone Air
  • iPad with M4 and later with 12GB or more in memory
  • Mac with M3 and later with 12GB or more in memory"

The models you will get will most likely require to go to private cloud more offen that is all.

My MacBook Pro m5 has been updated to MacOS 27. So far, it feels snappier. I haven't noticed any slowdown like previous dev betas. I joined the waitlist as soon as it restarted. Only about 20 minutes so far, so understandably no updates. Only shows "Joined Waitlist". iPhone 17 Pro Max is updating now. it took quite a long time to pull the update. It got to Preparing to Update and stalled. My MBP only took about 10 minutes form start to finish.

So I purchase an iPhone 16 pro max with the promise to be able to use Apple Intelligence, to only be told it was coming soon... and now its here but the iPhone 16 is not compatible with it?

I smell a class action lawsuit coming.
If you read the supported devices list, it's compatible. I also attached a screenshot as well. Only the dictation model, and the new customizable Siri voice require iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone Air.

Waitlist for the new features is pathetic. Use beta you get new features that’s how it should be.
There is this thing thing in technology called scaling. Even with a developer beta 1, Apple has insane scale. In other words they are trying to ensure quality of the service before they expand it to a larger user base. They also use that slow scaling period as feedback on how to optimize things and clean up bugs that may crush their server infrastructure.

I’m a little confused. So Siri Ai will be available or not in the same devices that support Apple Intelligence now? Or is it that some of the more powerful features will only be available in the newer iPhone models?

You're partly correct -- I was (incorrectly) stating iOS 27 compatibility, but Apple does say iPhone 15 Pro or later for Apple Intelligence so why would your iPhone 16 Pro Max not be compatible with Apple Intelligence? It will -- You just can't use the advanced mode, which was never talked about back when you bought your iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Thanks, I updated my post to reflect that, iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro.
They touched on it, but should have been more clear in the keynote about what is considered an advanced feature and what is just a standard Apple Intelligence feature.

How to say you know nothing about anything that requires large amounts of data center resouces.
Again, everyone understands the reason behind scaling. In this situation it might have been better for Apple to just let it go live for the developer beta with the understanding that it may take some time to smooth out. After all the delays, it was not a good look to say developers can try this today and then put it on a waitlist.
