normal people ( outside of Mac forums ) would complain more it the launched it and it crashed etc, or got server /comms errors. A phased rollout its software launch 101.
It is compatible. The newest devices are required for the best on-device models. Whether that makes a difference in features, that’s unknown. Apple could simply take the approach that if the on-device models doesn’t support a feature, it goes out to the cloud. It will almost certainly make a difference in speed. Having to go to the cloud is going to be slower than doing everything on device.
The article needs a correction. There is no more Apple Intelligence section in the Settings app. You have to go to the Siri section to be added to the waitlist.
In case anyone wants to know, I installed the beta on iPhone 11 (wasn’t expecting anything at all). Liquid Glass settings is good and that’s the only change I noticed so far.

Shocking that they didn’t get EU access before they released the info. They had enough time to negotiate. Appalling treatment for us EU customers. We don’t even have Apple News here in Germany. So left behind and so misinformed when we pay a fortune for our devices. Not impressed Apple. Android is awful in my opinion, but Apple is leaving us iPhone fans behind. No selling point for their ios27 ecosystem

I got mine through a standard notification where it’ll ask you if you want to open the Siri app. I think the Siri app is hidden until you get approved.

Pretty much right after I finished installing the beta. Requested it on my iphone and it put me on the waitlist for all of my devices.

Just got approved for new Siri. Wait was about an hour or so I guess? Good luck to everyone still waiting.
I’m in too—notification came through on all my devices that were on 27. Everyone complaining about the mere existence of a waitlist is just wildly overly dramatic.
I’m in. First impressions are underwhelming, but I’m hoping that this is down to the phone still indexing. First question I asked was for Siri to find pictures I took in Tokyo. I got a response saying it couldn’t find any photos taken there. I then pulled up a photo myself and asked why Siri couldn’t find it. Siri provided this response:
“This photo is tagged with the location Kaminarimon, Taito, Tokyo, Japan. If a previous search didn’t surface it, it might be due to how the search index was filtering specific location names at that time.”
The one positive I’d give Siri though, is that at least now it can keep listening and continue a conversation thread with back and forth. Hurray for the small wins!

Why bother creating a wait list if everyone is automatically approved when they apply?
