How to get location based functions to work with a Bluetooth car receiver

Hello!

Does anybody know here how to get the two location based functions to work with a Kenwood car receiver:

> Reminders (getting in the car / getting out of the car)
> Maps ("How to finde your parked car with Maps on your iPhone")

with my car receiver Kenwood KDC-BT 45 U and my iPhone 7 I can’t get it to work.
I even asked @AppleSupport (Twitter), but there they couldn‘t / wouldn’t help me.

What I found out so far:
some car receiver seem seem to work, some don’t. Here a (short) list:

Location based function work:
> Pioneer DEH-S3000BT
> Pioneer DEH-X 7800 DAB
> Sony MEX-BT 3700 U

Location based function don’t work:
> Kenwood KDC-BT 45 U

Anybody is welcome to expand this list for a Little help for future car receiver buyers. ;-)

Or does anybody know how to get it to work?
Any help is very appreciated!

I believe the device needs to present itself as a vehicle for those functions to work.

If it doesn’t, you can try contacting their support to see if there’s a firmware update, but you might be out of luck.

tehStickMan: Yes, it seems to be that way.

I contacted the Kenwood support and that there won't be a firmware update for my car receiver.
They wrote, that all iPhone car receivers model year 2018 should work.

I tried the 2018 model KMM-BT304 in a store, but it doesn't seem to work. :-(

I tried a Pioneer DEH-S3000BT where it worked ...

Well ... :-/
